Boy... talk about the ultimate "order has been restored" move. Saban leaves Bama to come home... jeeez... the melt on the Bama boards would be epic....

Didn't JImbo's buyout get even bigger after last year? He signed a new deal with FSU.

I hope the dark horse is Bielema...not even kidding. We'd keep that smashmouth, pro-style identity and we'd run it with superior talent. The guy would win big here, just needs a recruiter. He has had Saban on the ropes the past two years.

Kiffin and Aranda with Orgeron recruiting would wreak havoc.

I'm in. 3 years under Saban and the success he's had. I'll take it.

The guy who almost lost to la tech no thanks

Saban has losses on to UAB and LA-Monroe on his resume. One bad game doesn't make a coach. Guy made three straight rose bowls and three consecutive 10-11 win seasons.

Is their an interest in retaining Aranda?

I think that was the plan when he came in without the Miles clause.

If they were looking at offensive guys like Jimbo and now Herman, that could be part of the negotiations - keep Aranda, if acceptable to the new HC, and it would at least cut down on the buyout hits this year. I assume that would mean O could stay as well, if he and Aranda have had a good working relationship to this point. Whether or not Jimbo or Herman would insist on bringing all their guys in for RC, DC, etc. would be the question.

This is academic - while I think Jimbo might be a possibility, I'm pessimistic enough to think this will end up being a Larry Fedora/Kyle Whittingham type hire - a guy who may do well with out talent, but far, far from being a home run, Bama-killing coach.

Why is the board so in love with Jimbo? He has had as much, possibly more talent at FSU than we have had at LSU, is playing in a much weaker conference, and only has one NC to show for it.

right and multiple conference titles and a 29 game win streak and 8 QB's who have played NFL ball.

Kiffin is not a dark horse. Sark is there for a reason, he'll be the next OC after Kiffin bails. That one is easy to read.

We need someone who has overachieved at every stop. Jimbo has not been impressive, and hes in a weaker conference.

Fedora + Aranda would be intriguing but then you'd need to keep making excellent DC hires after he eventually leaves for an HC or nfl job.
