My answer to that query is "yes." In fact, this same problem did not happen this season to Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Jim Tressel, Mack Brown, and many others.
It is because they are not stupid and our coach is.
You are absolutely full of shite. Zach Lee had an offer from Alabama. If Lee had signed with Bama and played football you would be bitching at Miles for that too.
Perception of Miles has gone to shite and that's why we need a new coach. It has nothing to do with his ability, his IQ, or the way he wears his hats.
I don't see why Louisiana (LSU fans specifically) natives are such whiney arse cry babies all the time.. but they are. It's in the water or something. I'm so glad I moved out of that state.

Brilliantly put. Adults here will read this and get the point. You are on-target, PT.

I agree that this is all on Miles.
If you want to go after dual sport athletes, go after a flyer at tight end, wide receiver or defensive back. Miles should not be rolling the dice by taking one QB.
The positive for Miles is that I am sure he is now on Zach Lee's Christmas card list for life.

You might want to rethink this.

Results, my friend, results.
Is Alabama sitting there right now with no QB's that are a sophomore or less? Do they have none coming in this fall? Have they dropped two straight to Ole Miss?
You see where I'm going.

Lets assume that R Shep could be a college QB the decision was made to move him to WR after the season.
Knowing this and knowing Z. Lee could go MLB you need to recruit more than one QB last year.
Forget about 7 QB is 5 years> Just look at what was going on last year.

I absolutely see where you're going. You're not taking any definitive position and flopping your holier-than-thou arse off. All it takes is a JUCO QB, position swap.. and our depth is normal again.
Basically, Miles can't win. No matter what. We can post a 10 win season and you'll bitch about the other 3-4 losses. This isn't constructive.. this is the Michael Scott school of fricking business.
Miles could pull in a JUCO QB (and fix the situation), you'll switch gears and bash him in a different area.

I wonder if Zach Lee did not demand that he be the only QB in this class, and Miles took the bait.

Here is why the Rant is a colossal fail ... 95% of the retards on this board were screaming for RS to play at QB last year.

I agree we should have taken 2 QBs last year. I'm hoping we grab a JUCO guy to bridge that gap.

Bingo. LSU fans need to bitch. They feel incomplete if they aren't or something.

Here I fixed it for you:

Not everyone wanted RS to be the QB. Most just wanted him on the field.

You may be right, but don't think this is limited to LSU fans. Bama fans bitched about Shula, and they will bitch when Saban loses in the future.

He wasn't the only one who would have thought Shep would be a college QB. Had Shepard gone to a place like Florida, Oregon, WVU, etc. He would be.
7 QBs over 5 years should be plenty even with the above average amount of attrition. Hell, take Shepard out of that equation and 6 QBs over 5 years should be enough too.
"You tried, and that's what counts."
That is something to tell your 6 year-old after his team loses their soccer game. That is not what you tell a 55 year-old man making 4 mil per year.
Piss me some fricking excellence, old man!

y. And before you run to the history books to find some example, be aware that for every 1 kid you can find that passed up the money I can find 99 who took it. Let's all agree for purposes of this discussion that 1st round picks almost always take the money.
how many kids that get picked late in teh 1st round get 5 million dollars?
you dont have to find 99. Find 1 or 2

So, 1) knowing that the kid will be a 1st rounder, and 2) knowing that 1st rounders almost always leave, and 3) knowing by this point that Chris Garret is apparently not what you were looking for, and 5) knowing that your only two real quarterbacks (who have both struggled mightily) will be juniors this year, Les Miles signs only 1 quarterback?!?!?! The guy who is unlikely to ever play a down????? This for an offense that was 112 out of 117 last year.
So do you know what was said behind closed doors?
