the haters on this site. There are generally 2 types of haters. The ones who have VERY little education and are not smart enough to know that things run in patterns....there are ups and downs and you are lucky when the downs are not that bad at all. Then there are the young haters...who haven't been around a full cycle of football yet. They still are naive and ignorant enough to believe you CAN win every single year at the highest level. They can't quite comprehend that there are ups and downs and that 8-5 and 9-4 are truly not that bad at ll for down years without a QB in the SEC. They will unfortunately learn though at some point in their lives and be wishing they could go 9-4. A lot of these young guys are educated but just don't have practical common sense yet. I hear these experts talk about the TREND at LSU and the direction of the program etc....what a joke. I guess USC and Oklahoma are also done too right given their trends? I guess florida was done in 2007 given their 9-4 recrod with tebow right? I am 44, and realistic about the expectations of lsu. I am not satisfied with mediocrity but rather understand that we will have down years now and then. I thought the last two years were going to be rough ones given our qb situation, and in all honesty, we did a little better than i thought. Now, I do think we are ready to win at least the West again this year. I am not sold on jefferson, but do think he will mature and grow enough to lead the offense to be much, much better in 2010. I think the young guys up front for LSU on defense will be some real stars and future first round picks. The future is very bright for LSU football, just you wouldn't know it by all the ignorant haters on here. Whether i like or dislike les miles is irrelevant. He has shown he can win at the highest level with three top 5's and a NC, and I am confident he will again. So, hate on haters...it will be funny to listen to your excuses when we have a damn good season. Les

All you can really ask is that the program be kept at the top level (top 25) and that allows you to make a push every few years at a SEC championship and possible National Championship.

People are stupid though. Texas fans were complaining two years ago when Texas went 10-3 and ended up 13 or 15 in the polls. It's good to demand excelence, but it's also good to have perspective.

Good post.

agree 100%. listen, i'm not happy we didn't contend for West title. In actuality we werent that far off but fact is we just didn't have a good enough qb to overcome the other deficiencies we had. has coaching been great always? heck no. but ALL coaches make bad decisions. If you win, they are forgotten. Look at saban with his 4th and 26 gamble in the bcs game. They won=forgotten. Look at brown against texas a&m and clock management....1 second put back on so all forgotten. I understood the 2008 season. It happened. It was a nice bowl win to finish a rough season. This past year, we were in every single game. We have a lot of talent yes, but if you don't have it at qb you are not going to win at the highest level. The haters haven't been on here replying yet...they ALWAYS have reasons and never look at the actual incredible success miles has had. No matter what you say, he is the all time winningest % wise coach at lsu over 5 or more years...with about 35% of the total top 5's for LSU. I look for LSU to be very good this year, and i have been through many ups and downs for LSU. IF Lsu does not have a good season, then I will say we should start to put miles on a hot seat. But the guy is recruiting like crazy. If we are not careful, we will run off someone very successful and wind up like michigan who cant recruit OR coach.

I agree with this 100%. Its just like the other day listening to that dipshit Jimmy Ott defend Billy Donovan for having down years in basketball and how his track record should show that he should not be put on the hot seat and that he is a good coach but you say that about Miles and you have people jump you and say he is an idiot and can't coach. It just goes back to people having a hard on for Saban and can't get over the fact that he is gone and screwed us over when he left. Good to finally see somebody with some sense post on this site.

if miles were to take a pay cut when we have our so called "down years" I'd feel a hell of lot better...for 4 mill a year you better win 10 fing games a year...i understand perspective just fine....but 8-5, 9-4, (8-8) in the SEC = 4 mill?...didnt think so...I think he should feel the warmth of the that seat right now...it will either get cold or hotter this year...and Id be veeeeeeeeeery careful about extensions, he's gonna have to prove that in 2011-2012 when its up...

that is stupid. so he kicks a player off the team for being a thug, realizing that it will probably cost the team wins, and he should also lose money from doing this, despite the tremendous success he brought lsu already. That would lead to a coach never kicking players off that deserve to be kicked. Really a dumb way to look at it. Executives don't have their pay cut when a company loses money. This is the kind of post i was talking about. He is paid that amount for what he brings to the table. Look at our recruiting last year, this year, next year. It takes recruiting, and lsu id doing as well or better than at any other time in their history in terms of recruiting.

Oklahoma hasn't won a major bowl in years. What has USC done lately other than lose to teams they should clearly not be losing to. No they aren't trends, no more than LSU's last two seasons without a good qb.

apparently you didnt see my post above...

so he kicks a player off the team for being a thug, realizing that it will probably cost the team wins, and he should also lose money from doing this

you said that, I didnt.
quote:

despite the tremendous success he brought lsu already

its debateable that he didnt "bring" anything...he just let it ride...you know the other guy brought it and built it...kinda doing the same with another team...
quote:

That would lead to a coach never kicking players off that deserve to be kicked.

I didnt say shnizzle about kicking guys off the team...
quote:

Executives don't have their pay cut when a company loses money.

they should.
quote:

if by continuing a succesful program that was laid at his feet, then by god im in the wrong buisness.
quote:

didnt know we were going after the BCS of recruiting...Im fully aware its of vital importance. But for 4 Million he ought to be able to do more then just recruit...hey, if he cant handle it take a pay cut and expectations go down...simple as that.

I suppose meyer, carroll and stoops should all get paycuts as well huh after they have not championship years. lol. as far as laying at his feet, you mean that program that saban left us with his what 3-4 losses the year after his national championship. I mean that was saban's fith year, shouldn't it have been better than a loss to iowa in a bowl game? I mean miles did better with the talent than saban did. You say you get it, but you really don't get it. The recruiting could have gone to pots with miles. If anything it is better. The LSU program gave saban his start. He has 2 National Titles yes, Miles has one. However, in his 25 year coaching career, that is the only top 5 finishes he has ever had so don't go blowing saban. There are several teams (like 10-12) that are really loaded with talent. QB is always the major determinent. See oklahoma this year when their qb went down. LSU had equal talent with a lot of teams over the past 5 years....less than some, more than some in that top 10-12 area. You think we had more talent than USC? give me a break. You act as if anyone could have won a championship with the talent we had. If that is the case, and given we are still recruiting as well or better, then this non-coaching miles should be able to finish top 5 again since he has done it 60% of his career at LSU. I can sense that what we have here is one of those young pups that graduated from lsu, working in houston, and doesn't quite understand the ups and downs of college football....all you apparently know is the glorious years and you think they will all be like that. You have a rough road ahead of you son until you learn the real truth. You will at some point be begging for a 9-4 season. It's not if, but when. I've seend the highs and lows.
