It's very possible . I'm still gonna cheer on the tigers regardless . There's athletes in this state , we will return to prominence eventually . We just need the right upper management , coaching , and players to line up .

And just for the record I would prefer CEO over Pertrino or Briles.

Just the opposite , I'm not saying we are in the dark ages by any means. I'm just saying LSU football isn't what is was with Saban /Good Miles. I'm still very excited for the upcoming seasons , and I hope for the best . I like orgeron but at the same time I feel like he isn't the SEC quality coach that's gonna compete with Nick Saban year in and year out.

That's all fine and dandy, but could we at least give him a fair shot to succeed? He IS our HC, like it or not! We can get on board and support him or we can be miserable and talk about shite we cannot control.....which will change nothing! Like I said, the negativity is suffocating. You say Saban and Good Miles? We haven't a clue as to what O will do or be? Let things play out......he might just surprise you! If not, have at it. Everybody is speculating. Again, we may not like it.......but it is what it is.

Gray Tiger: Herman was Not coming to LSU this year.
Ignorance is the softest pillow on which to rest your head. I know for a fact that this is total ignorant, pessimistic, defeatist drivel. Your opinion proves no one is exempt from speaking nonsense, and you have done that 28390 times.

After Alleva made Fisher turn him down at 6.9 million, plus a 7 figure housing allowance, as his "first choice" he set the price for what he was willing to pay for "the coach he really wanted". Offering Herman anything less is insulting, especially when you lie and tell a surprised Herman he was your 1st choice all along.

Alleva wasted a year on Fisher and was forced to keep Miles after he leaked the whole thing to press just like he did again this year. Fisher, who Herman beat straight up with a team full of 2 star athletes in last year's Peach Bowl.

7-3 Fisher whose Achilles's Heel is up-Tempo spread offenses: CLEM, ORE (59-20), Louisville 63-20 w/Petrino pulling the starters after the 3rd qtr.

Herman 22-4 in 2 yrs was the only Coach with 2 top 5 wins this year: Oklahoma and Louisville 33-10.

There was never any handshake that was reneged on. That alone is reason to fire Alleva. He lied to Herman and then called Herman a liar. Joe Cool must have been up past his bedtime or sloshed.

The recruiting agent he paid to recommend a coach said Herman was a must-get, and Alleva wouldn’t even wait to make his case to Herman that the LSU job was a better one than Texas – after Herman had voiced those sentiments to him.

quote:

LSU athletic director Joe Alleva, livid that Tom Herman backtracked on an oral agreement to be the next LSU coach, pulled his offer to the Houston coach late Friday night, a high-ranking source close to the search confirmed.

The source said a perturbed Alleva told Herman’s agent, Trace Armstrong, via phone Friday night, “Don’t worry. I have a guy who wants the job.”

Herman assured the LSU brass “he wanted to compete in the best conference in the country,” the source said. The source said Herman also was turned off by the “politics” at Texas. He has beaten Saban and knows he is soon to retire.

Herman wanted to join up with Aranda and he knew his offensive coordinator, Major Applewhite, a Baton Rouge QB from Catholic High, would not likely be able to return to Austin. So Applewhite and Aranda were definitely leverage for LSU.

As first reported by HornsDigest.com, Herman and LSU had an agreement in place for him to become LSU’s coach. The source would not divulge exact terms but did concede the annual compensation was “north of five (million per year).” Papers were to be signed Saturday morning in Houston.

That changed when Armstrong called Alleva on Friday night to inform him that Herman wanted to hear out Texas.

If Alleva had done his homework, listened to paid agent, he would have known that Herman was not only the better Coach but that Fisher was not leaving.

Alleva wanted Fisher or O and not only lied to Herman but never wooed him, his wife, or made him the TOP priority.

Just like the Sticky Post with the "Welcome Back Kotter" theme song TD was in the tank for Fisher and then Alleva turned to polling players to see if they like their Coach - Classic stupidity - The Prisoner's Dilemma. Like asking a soldier if he likes his commanding officer.

I like Herman, his beautiful wife and family, his coaching style, how he builds and recruits, and know that energy could be here. All we needed was an Emmert or Bertman to step in and say “pay the man”.

I apologize for my grammatical miscues . I build cabinets for a living. I don't really care about my credibility on the rant .

Your bromance for Herman is admirable, but he was NEVER going to come to LSU. Texas was his dream destination and all the songs and dances he and his agent did last year and this year were just that. He could see Strong fading. Both he and his agent knew it was imminent. There was no way he was going out of state when his El Dorado was right down the road.
All of the posturing, negotiating, and news leaks were to open the door in Austin. The narrative was cleverly crafted to lock up that job. Disinformation and false negotiation are an agent's stock in trade.

Sorry your 11 yr Bromance with Lesticles is over. Ahem. It is over isn't it? You two have broken it off haven't you? We thought we would NEVER see that day you waved goodbye.

Joe, I don't read books but if I did it would be about passing and spread offense.

NEVER = argumentum ad ignorantiam or Appeal to ignorance: you cannot assert something is true that was not attempted. Alleva did not pursue Herman as he was advised and pulled his offer before there was a chance to leverage the LSU/Herman/Aranda/Applewhite advantages and the SECW/SECN/Finebaum/and a 2 SEC team playoff scenario.

sat Nov 26: Armstrong, Herman's agent said Sat the 26th, after Alleva withdrew his offer in the middle of the night, that Herman WAS LSU's for 6 million. That was the only way Herman gets his dream team of Applewhite and Aranda, the SEC West, the SECN, Finebaum repping him everyday, and a double shot at the playoffs. But after Alleva's rude behavior Alleva would likely have needed to go to 7 mm with the housing allowance to show some respect for Michelle, Thomas Danger (TD) Maddock, Maverick, and Priya

You cannot refute Armstrong's statement. Besides why would you unreasonably contend that something possible and desirable for LSU, Herman, Aranda, BR hometown Applewhite, the recruits waiting to commit/flip, and the students wanting to get their picture taken at the Pizza Party was impossible, aside from your 28393 obtuse rants?

Nov 24th: "Anybody that says we haven't been pursuing Fisher is being disingenuous or is simply out of the loop. He's been Joe's guy from the start."

Fisher had a large buyout on top of the 6.9 mm and 7 figure housing allowance. Additionally, Fisher did not want Aranda or any LSU Staff - he wanted a full new Staff hire like Saban's.

Alleva was set on keeping O and Aranda. Herman/Applewhite wanted to be reunited with Aranda and Herman even tried to hire him at TX before LSU upped his pay and title to associate HC.

Tx was also facing a 10 million buyout for Strong.

That day, the 24th, after Fisher turned down Alleva, with the details completely known to Herman, Alleva turns to Herman and gives him a 2 day ultimatum and a hugely discounted offer, and tells him a lie.

It was Alleva's chance at a Legacy hire that would have LSU set for a Dynasty (Herbstreit) run with or without Herman's little bitch Saban retiring. Herman would have likely kept mentoring Saban as he has done for 2 yrs because to Herman sharing is good for the game. Plus I think he admires how willing the little old guy is to learn and how he works as hard as he does to be the best he can be.

Herman was identified as the Must-Get by Alleva's agent yet Alleva continued to offer Fisher the job until he said no on the 24th. Then lied to Herman's agent that there was never any offer. 4 Pinocchios

Alleva bungled a legacy hire and sent the future of LSU into this downward spiral of uncertainty and chaos. 2 yrs to get it right and effed up both times.

His intransigence over the Foley/Sankey FLA game won him the asshat of the SEC award.

Herman had 12 yrs of very successful QB and OC development and his CFPNC semi-final vs Saban was one of dozens of reasons he was the 2016 top hire LINK in the FBS. He was 11-0 as an underdog.

When Joe Alleva told Ed Orgeron he'd gotten the #LSU job, Orgeron picked Alleva up off of his feet, carrying him in his arms.

quote:

I don’t think Ed was the right hire. Herman is an x’s and o’s guy, and the LSU offense needs that. Recruiting is Ed’s strength, and LSU has never had a problem there. Miles had some of the best talent to work with and underperformed year in and year out. I think Orgeron has changed some, but he was such a babbling idiot at OM that I can’t forget all the horror stories of him taking his shirt off to fight people at practice, chugging red bull, and cussing out reporters.

It was the #2 ranked Roster in nation and it will end up 7-5 or 8-4.
