There are no automatic tie-ins as it relates to how teams finish in conference. The bowls simply have a picking order. Cotton Bowl picks third.

Two factors that everyone is failing to consider:

1. UGA without Aaron Murray is not as attractive

2. Don't underestimate the market value of JFF's last college game which will put aTm in a better bowl than they should be in.

I think UGA goes to Chicken Bowl and aTm may go Cotton but probably Gator.

As for the Tigers I hope for Cap One because I live in Orlando but think its Cotton

Hope LSU ends up in the Outback Bowl... But that's just wishful thinking seeing as how I'm from Tampa.

But believing the Cotton Bowl would use its #3 or #4 choice to take the #6 finisher in the SEC is an example of P&G glasses being worn, IMO, especially considering LSU just played in Dallas in the same stadium three months ago.

Well considering they did the exact same thing last year Id say its a strong possibility. Look with Ole Miss losing and us crushing TAMU there will be 4 bowls for 4 teams. Auburn/bama loser, LSU, USC and Mizzou (I assume the Auburn bama winner as SECCG winner). UGA regardless of their SEC record is not an attractive bowl team with 4 losses and Aaron Murray out for the season with an ACL.

The four bowls are Sugar (or other BCS bowl if the SEC does not make BCS CG), Cap 1 Outback and Cotton.

Sugar will most likely be Auburn/Bama loser. They like to keep it in the SEC and dont like to pick the SEC CG loser right off a loss.

Cap 1 will probably be Mizzou. Outside shot USC goes here, but Mizzou with two losses (either TAMU 10-2 which leaves SC in the SEC CG and being 9-3 or loss in SEC CG 11-2)

Then leaves outback and cotton-which is always east and west which means Outback takes USC and us in the Cotton. Very outside shot of TAMU but us destroying them took that away.

Where is the Rosé and Orange? LSU still has a shot to make a BCS bowl game

The biggest thing standing in the way of LSU to the Cotton Bowl....

.....is Auburn, Missouri or South Carolina.

Cotton will not take South Carolina

It's not even in the cards under the current scenario.

Of those, the worst scenario for LSU going to the Cotton is Mizzou winning out but losing the SECCG

It's like this is the first time he played the game of bowl projections, and he is here to school us with contractual rules as if they are absolute.

To the point of treating with scorn those that say that other factors are involved and dismissing the very notion that there are subjective elements involved.

This really means nothing. Mizzou can still be a 3 loss team.

LSU will be in cotton if we beat Arkansas.

I mean its honestly not THAT crazy. At large teams must be in the top 14. We are 15 right now. Get one more spot next week. Bama CRUSHES Auburn. Mizzou loses to TAMU. USC loses to Clemson. That leaves the Sugar with 10-2 off a bad ending for auburn with other loss to LSU. OR 9-3 LSU CLOSE TO NEW ORLEANS who will show up and buy concessions fresh off crushing rivals TAMU Arkie and shutting down Johnny football. They are going to have to take the non AQ team NIU UCF etc. so they will want to put butts in the seats. Best way to do that is to pick us. If we had beaten OM itd be a sure thing. As is.....Bama needs to crush Auburn.......Im still rooting for auburn and take the cotton..

I'm rooting for Auburn. Auburn wins sec and plays in sugar. Bama gets at large, LSU to cotton.

I'm not reading through this whole thread, but you're technically incorrect. Bowls don't chose "seeds," they have "options."

For example, chicken bowl doesn't chose the #2 seed. They have the second choice.

Why can't people just wait and see how things play out?
If we waited for every game to play out before we posted any 'what if' threads about college football, Chicken would probably see a 75% drop off in posts.

If LSU goes to the Cotton Bowl I'll be happy to come back here and say I was wrong.

If LSU does not go to the Cotton Bowl will you do the same?

Understand the value of JFF, but after last year, I don't see how the Cotton passes on us if we beat Arkansas.

A bowl looking at Georgia would take into account that Murray is done for the year. They are not the same team. At best they would get a chick-fil-a bid.

You're right. I used a poor choice of words, and, as you say, technically incorrect. It's not 'seeds' but the order which bowls get to choose.

Even so, I don't see the Cotton Bowl passing on Auburn or Missouri (or even Spurrier and South Carolina because the SC fans travel VERY well for bowl games) just to get LSU whose fans might have a little Dallas fatigue having played there 3 times in the past 4 seasons.

I agree and I've discounted Georgia's chances to go to the Cotton Bowl, if you've read through the entire thread, which I don't blame you if you haven't.
