So you are saying that thus far he has not had as much impact on deciding the game than a qr or rb your nuts.

Herbstreit used to be awful

When?

He was all over LSU's jock in 2007.

He was all over LSU's jock in the beginning of 2008 before the Florida debacle.

He said LSU may have been the best team in the country at the end of 2006.

I'm just trying to figure out when Herbstreit has said anything negative about LSU.

Half the battle for the Heisman is winning the hype machine. Once you win the hype battle, you play your way out of the Heisman more so than into it.

Right now I think he's on his way toward winning that battle. LSU just needs to keep winning, and he just needs to play how he has the first 5 games.

When did I mention LSU? Herbstreit used to be horribly prideful and opinionated.

Feels great and I love the guy but this isn't sustainable compared to a ball carrier or QB. And don't give me outlier examples like Charles Woodson.

He spent most of the past two seasons downgrading LSU.

I can't tell you how many times I heard him on the radio saying if LSU was as stock he'd sell it or that LSU was struggling and trending down.

It's pretty cool when sportscenter shows their list with the typical Luck and Richardson, then he says none of those , I think TM7 is the best college football player right now.

It all stems from "Miles to Michigan."

And we are a way better team this year than the past two. The guy is doing his job.

I think you would be hard pressed to find a defensive player with as much of an impact on his team than TM.

And why the hell not? All he's lacking is punt return for TD. In All other categories, he exceeds Woodson's Heisman year stats. He is a Game changer. Just hope all this Heisman talk doesn't go to his head. PP7 was never the same player last year after All this crap started.

Maybe Herbie's setting TM up with this. Maybe he really Does Still hate LSU. That sneaky Bastard

This. And he really regressed his Jr. year as a pure cover corner. Struggling with Cards as well.

TM7 and PP7 are two completely different types of CBs. You cannot compare the two. Teams started punting and throwing away from him more and more. He's a lockdown corner. Mathieu is a nickel CB that floats around on the field making plays and blitzing. He has more opportunities to sack and cause fumbles. Mathieu actually has a chance to be Heisman because of how we use him on defense and the fact he is our punt returner.
