I enjoy that they are morally O U T R A G E D and are now holding their breath and hoping to die because a "pro" might sign who never played a down in a preseason game because he might taint "amateur" players who have multimillion dollar NIL deals.

Do you realize you just proved my point? The fact that, as you stated, only "some" of the young guys, an extremely small portion of young people I might add, could immediately go to the NFL (which is debateable for the NFL and somewhat more achieveable for the NBA but I digress) and play points to the reality that the overwhelming majority can't. The existence of outliers actually proves the rule.

what competitive advantage did those players get from being pros in another sport? That is the only question to ask.
I played with a few guys that made it in baseball. They most definitely could have played basketball or football at the college level and be good. They were all multi sport stars. So example Weinke played at FSU and won the heisman and national championship after playing 6 years in the MLB minors all the way to AAA. Of course his mind and body were way ahead of an18-22 yr old.
