does hawthorne get paid too much money? doe he NOT give the score enough? can he tell what is a curve ball, fast ball, change up, slider, screw ball when one is thrown?

Hawthorne is a great announcer who is a very big LSU fan, he is a realist and tells it how it is unlike half of you idiots. He's not gonna be talking about all these good things when LSU is playing like hell, so all the Hawthorne haters can shut the f*** up.

yeah, next time you hear the call .. listen closely, he calls it a three run homer .. i am sure there are edited versions out there where it was "fixed" .. just like LSU let hawthorne edit in "devry henderson" to avoid further embarrasment .. but in the original version he calls it a three run homer plain as day ..

Russian, at least somebody trying to say he does a good job is a legitimate defense to our criticism IMO. The only legitimate defense to criticism of someone's job performance is to defend the performance itself. The following are not legitimate defenses IMO:
1. "You couldn't do any better". Well no shite! But I am not a professional announcer. If I bring my car to get fixed and the mechanic screws up, am I gonna be OK if he says "well you couldn't do any better"?
2. "He IS LSU and bleeds purple and gold." So what? If I need surgery I'd be fine with a Tulane grad doing it as long as he's competent. (I'd have continued the mechanic analogy, but there are no Tulane grad mechanics).
3. "If you don't like him, don't listen." Again, this is not a defense of his performance.

Would b cool if LSU could get Jim Henderson on loan from the Saints. Kind of like Tampa and Florida State have Gene Deckerhart pulling double duty. Asking a lot, though.
