Some version of Conference Champions only getting in, will be the ultimate outcome.

I never understood this argument.

If you are indeed one of the four best teams in the nation, who cares if you won your conference or division?

Do you believe a 2-loss conference champion should get in over a 1-loss team that plays in an extremely tough conference and lost to the eventual conference champion?

Conversely, what about s 2 loss champion that plays 4 top ten teams in a tough conference? Should they get in over a 1 loss conf champ in a bad conference?

How about a 6 team playoff. 5 conference champs, 1 wild card. Top 2 get a bye.

The NCAA needs to have a legitimate playoff in FBS. The 16 team playoff works at every other level of college football.

The playoff is killing the Bowl System anyway. Most Bowls are already dying and more teams are needed to have true playoff. The money and TV interest would be phenomenal.

Why are some of you scared of having a legitimate playoff of 16 teams? This is the SUCCESSFUL model the NCAA uses at every level other than the FBS. The TV money would be huge.

Top 8 host. Bottom 8 travel. Championship Game held at neutral site.
The bowls could still exist for teams not making the playoffs. Some of the smaller bowls will probably die off but who cares.

we should lose to UGA

Not right now. But if the PAC and Big XII Champs are going to have 2 losses that throwing the SECCG becomes the smart move.

HUMANS w the eye test will NOT provide the 4 best teams.
Coaches and AP polls should have taught us that, but NCAA crumbled under pressure from conference presidents.

BCS had it right
NCAA had it wrong to w easy fix...
from 2 teams go to 6 w #1 AND #2 GETTING A BYE.... done
or similar.

MUST keep humans (politics) out of it.
This is turning into every conf gets a trophy thing....my favorite team must get in.

This is not a championship.
Now influenced by of do-overs and politics.

So you think that all we had to do was keep the BCS and the playoffs would have been set with the correct four teams?

how in the world do computer rankings figure Alabama only drops 1 spot after losing at home to the #2 team?

Bama will be an easier and more satisfying semifinal matchup than OSU or Clemson.

Bama will be easier but they will likely be less deserving and I hate that they'll get the opportunity!

Some of y’all need to grow a pair and stop fearing Bama in a potential rematch. We’d just whip their arse again if it happens.

This 100%! LSU will beat the brakes off Bama. If Bama backs into the playoffs this year they'll be backing down on TTD!

I actually agree with you. Maybe if we had a true playoff system and had the top 20 teams in a playoff - THAT would be different. Right now every time I hear the CFP discussed the main topic is how can Bama get back in. How about they don’t get back in because they don’t deserve to???

Its almost gotten to a point where Id rather rely on a system of algorithms to figure out the 4 deserving teams.
I never liked or wanted any kind of CFP system to begin with. The previous one was not all that much, either. I’m old school, and prefer the older poll and record based method of determining the top teams. Wasn’t close to perfect, but was more fun. Didn’t pretend to be scientific, and everybody knew it was subjective. But it made for some really great bowl matchups, and yes, meaningful bowls.

The CFP committee has pretty much gotton it pretty much right in the past, no reason to think they wont again this year. All the alternatives people come up with have a lot of faults of their own.

IKR..

It's all about lobbying for who looks the prettiest.

Losing in November is no longer a huge deal?

I realize the BCS would have the same 4 teams at this point though. I just hate the immediate lobbying after a loss.

Any ways, let's win today!
