Verge needs to be fired but he knows where a lot of the skeletons are buried so it’s a case of keep your friends close but enemies closer.

I totally agree, we are in the minority but so be it.
On a different but related point, one thing that I genuinely am curious about in reading this thread is, are we to all universally accept that Verge has total Czar/dictator status in scheduling and answers to no one, has no discussion with anyone, has no checks in place for his power in this regard? Total autonomy and does whatever he wants in regard to scheduling?

Yeah there is nothing wrong with playing a top shelf opponent week one. Doesn't matter anymore. Top 12 gets into playoff. 1 game doesn't define your team or your ability. Playing scrubs however absolutely does nothing to help your team define themselves and show what your metal actually is. frick everyone for doubting Verge's philosophy about playing good teams over the years in week 1.
