The portal situation is causing teams not to wait until December to start looking and getting a new staff together. Rip the band aid off, go find your shadow hire, and back channel recruits until the season ends.

Agree about the portal but for a different reason. The portal completely changes how you run a team, and some coaches are demonstrating they can't compete.

Agree on coach burnout, but not sure that alone explains the timing.
