k.m. has a 4 mil buy out. not happening. their top choice was the u.c.l.a. coach. she has a big buy out. doesn't look like that will happen.

lsu is running into a lot of difficulty with the ladies buy outs. they are willing to pay 500-600k, however, the womens coaches aren't able to absorb their current buy out. they have had some excellent candidates, however, when they find out their buy out's, they can't pull the trigger.

Seems like good info...but why should we believe you? (I'm not being an arse...serious question). You have good connections?

I'm not high on Curry...........as I'd stated in the past. She won that championship back in the day but, since that time has been mired in mediocrity her last few years at Purdue and now at Texas Tech.

What about a younger head coach (30-40)? Someone who still has a fire to recruit. I would hate to make the mistake of hiring someone like Van who may get tired and retire in a few years. I would like a long-term solution. I would be willing to take a chance on a young coach, who we could pay less money to, that would really work to recruit and in the community. Especially if they were from La or had some kind of ties to the state.

Mulkey got out coached and her team showed no emotion last night in defeat.

The list of potential candidates the Advocate put out today was either poor work by Rabalais or fueled by Alleva's over the top stupidity.

I hope it's just Rabalais.

Well, the list isn't entirely ridiculous. We all know there's a slim to none chance of getting Mulkey to come here. I think every one else on that list is a possibility, even McCallie. Mitchell wouldn't be bad. Of course, Walz should have made the list. Maybe Rabalais is thinking it would be hard to extract him out of Louisville? But it would be MUCH HARDER to get Mulkey. So, why wouldn't he have made this list?

Shouldn't even be mentioned
Mulkey - reasons listed plenty of times
McCallie - another $1 million coach, lateral move at best, no connection to LSU unless she liked working for Alleva so much she wants to go another round.
Travis Mays - might get an interview but let's face he ain't getting the job
Turner Thorne - not leaving the West Coast
Could be candidates but not good ones
Curry - done next to nothing at Texas Tech who was pretty good when she took over
Arico - not many skins on the wall finished 9th in the Big East this year
Good candidates
Mitchell
Caldwell
Semrau
Meyer

That's more than half the list that's bad and it's missing coaches like Walz who would be good candidates.

Again, I still say they should shoot for Jeff Walz at Louisville. He'd be perfect.

I think he'd be the guy who would knock Summitt off that summit! Could finally force her into retirement if he could do it for a couple of years. Who (outside of Tennessee) would not love to see Summitt retire?

Well, I'm not sure that he'd be able to knock coach Summitt off the "summitt" anymore than Pokey did. But if he can match Pokey's success against her, that would be great.
