the short answer is yes.
This was her most compete roster while at LSU even without a dominant inside player.
2023 was lightning in a bottle. Iowa's upset of SC coupled with Jasmine Carson shooting treys like she was throwing a golf ball into an ocean against Iowa.

It doesn't diminish what Mulkey has accomplished by any means but the there are lot more programs with talented rosters. The women's game isn't what it was. The women are more athletic off the dribble, better at ball handling, and there are tons of great shooters.

Unless they have an off night, it's going to be a heavy lift to get past UConn. They are stacked.

Flauje was inconsistent but far from horrible. Every coach in the country would like to have that level of horrible on their team.

That wasn’t South Carolina or UConn and that’s who you have to beat

Just about everyone is hers (and/or Auriemma's).

Going back to 2000:

UConn has 11 of the 25 NCs
USC has 3
Baylor has 3 (Mulkey is now with us obviously)
ND has 2 (McGraw is now retired and ND has fallen off)
Tennessee has 2 (Program has taken a huge step back since Summitt passed)
LSU, Maryland, aTm, and Stanford all have 1

The reality is that most of the one-off winners didn't have to go through UConn or post-2020 USC (Staley has been good at USC since ~2014, but the 2020 season is when she broke down the door).

As long as South Carolina is not in their way, Mulkey can still win another. But if the cocks are in their path then they are shite out of luck.

Look at the teams LSU lost to this year, the 5 losses were all in the Top 10, several in the Top 4. As for losing to S.Carolina, both losses this year were by only 5-6-7 points. Both highly competitive & entertaining games. As for being "out of touch"..........how is she signing so many highly rated young girls, to the extent she's had top rated classes every year. ??

A question. I know LSU spends a lot of money. How do we compare to the other big girls? U Conn, SC, Texas, etc.??????

On the books?
NIL?

Who knows but she definitely needs to find better post play and more 3 point shooting to what we have coming back

That thread was about baseball and WBB. The dumbass I responded to is making bold arse statements about baseball and thinks he has enough data points of the 300 other programs to say LSU won’t host a regional.

She is like Les Miles. She can win when her teams have a considerable talent advantage. I dont see her winning games against teams with similar or better talent.

If she can recruit and retain superior talent, the sky is the limit. Otherwise, we are like Les Miles football. We will win alot of games but melt against equal talent.

Only if she meets South Carolina in tournament. If not, there’s a chance. Iowa eliminated South Carolina a few years ago allowing LSU to take the last CKM title.
