the scary thing to me is that we have struggled mightily getting the damn play in in time.

hopefully that problem is solved with Cam now on the sidelines.

in the past, we have telegraphed the play by the formation we have used. 4 wr's could do the same thing. we need to run out of passing formations

that's one big component of the spread and I hope that Miles/Cam have gotten it through their, at times seemingly, thick skulls that spreading out a defense can actually be a big asset to the run game.
Just think of the damage Fournette could do lined up next to Harris out of the shotgun with 4WR's and the defense having to respect the pass. Of course this is predicated on Harris and the WR's being able to complete passes and earning that respect from defenses.

The thing I worry about the spread offenses is that may be just a product of competition. Teams like Oregon and Texas Tech are known for high flying offenses, but they both got dominated by LSU within the last 5 years.

How about the Seattle Seahawks?

What about Ohio State or Clemson? Products of inferior competition? Nope

watching the playoff games yesterday you could see just how far NFL teams has gotton from the conventional 'pro style' offense. Even when the QB's lined up under center, it was usually with a single back and 4wr's.

I know we are not a NFL team and we don't have a Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer, or Cam newton at QB, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be incorporating a lot of the style of those offenses into our offense.

It would add a lot of excitement, and I'm sure our offense players would be pumped about playing in a offense more in the direction of that style

LSU ran out of some 10 and 11 sets in '15. Not nearly with success of 21 and 22.
You're hung up on spread and should ask Guru Gus if it was some cure all this year.

This goes for either philosophy.

We don't have to run spread air raid stuff. We just need to run the ball more out of shotgun. Pull our linemen like Ohio state run power out of shotgun. Mix in small I formation stuff, wildcat. Unfortunately that stuff is too complex for LeS Miles :(

No, I would prefer to ask guru Kiffen or guru Meyer or Clemsons OC or the 32 OC gurus in the NFL

We aren't going to run the spread.

Frankly, we just need to execute on underneath passes and use a TE.
