2008 was pretty damn bad.
Not offensively. Problem in 08 was that god awful Chinese Fire Drill Mallveto defense. We moved the ball and scored points, even with redshirt freshman JL constantly being put in bad positions by Crowton. (Inexperienced freshman QB that can't see the field or read the defense and you continue to call risky passes to the middle of the field.

Fast forward to 2010. You have a junior QB that can't read defenses, but instead of running a college level offense that challenges defenses, you simplify things to the high school level based on trying to protect said QB from mistakes. That, combined with a head coach that's obsessed with being Michigan in the 70's, is why WR talent is being wasted. With all that speed, we need to be throwing it 75% of the time. Too bad we don't have a QB that can pull the trigger. I mean a starting QB that can do it........

You guys have short memories.
Remember with LAFELL would drop pass after pass that hit him in the hands?
Look at him now - Injured Hammy with NFL Panthers.

Not offensively.
Having the 71st passing offense in yards per game and leading the country in interceptions is a "good offense?"

while they didn't call the pass much, JJ certainly played a role in our lack of downfield passing. He lookes for the safest bet and gets it to them. He left A LOT of receivers open downfield to make the "safer" short pass. You can bet your arse that RR and TT are getting a little fed up with JJ not hitting them downfield when they're open. It's not all play calling that they're waiting for. JJ doesn't throw to make a play. He looks to not make a mistake. We can't keep winning with this formula.

Shepard had some very talented dropped passes on Saturday night. It takes a lot of talent to get open and create separation. But it takes 5 star talent to drop the ball.

I'm willing to give him a little leeway. This is the first year he's ever played WR in his life.

Theres really nothing more to say. If you still want to defend Crowton and his system, thats your business.
well, i was responding to you. you don't say something silly, i doesn't respond. if you don't want to hear from me, don't say sillyt things.
how's norm chow doing these days? give our team ryan mallet, i don't think you are griping about the play calling, the o.c., ect.
tell you what, check out the big offensive number charlie weis is putting up with matt c then look when he had tom brady. put peyton manning on the carolina panthers and their qb on indy. let's see which o.c. is better.
you want to have an issue with crowton, it's his inability to recruit. as a play caller, he's not bad.

IT is the QB. Case in point Jason Campbell with the Redskins offense and now McNabb with the Redskins with less talented receivers and a worse run game. He is still slinging the rock all over the field. Miles and co. are afraid to take the handcuffs off JJ because they don't have any confidence in him. Same damn thing with Campbell.

Why do you have to lie to make a point??? JLee threw 16, which wasnt even even Top 10 in 2008.

Exactly. Campbell sucks and hinders the passing game.
