he isn't exactly shifty...sure he can run, but never saw him as a threat to make anyone miss
i think his scrambling ability needs major work...maybe it was the injury, or maybe it was nerves...i'm hopeful that our offense is able to stretch the field keeping the d honest...otherwise teams are going to continue to stack the box

Hope he does so far he's had poor short range accuracy. In times where he's struggling to complete the short passing game I'd like to see designed runs to be a substitute

No, by trying to come off as some smarmy prick who thinks that LSU is better off with a QB running around like JFF making plays on the fly outside the pocket becuase of some misinformed conception that having a mobile quarterback who can make plays happen with his feet is the only way to win against Bama.

Please quote where I said any of that. I literally said I'd like him to use his legs to buy more time and also go through his reads. Take what the defense gives him. The insanity!
And I wouldn't mind Heisman QB play either. I guess you have to create arguments for others to have a chance to win one.

the problem with your suggestion is that Harris isn't very good at this, example:

We are much better off having a QB who can step up in the pocket instead of booting out whenever there is an inkling of doubt in his mind. A quarterback's best friend is the pocket. Once you leave it, for no specific reason, you are shrinking the field and will have less protection. It's not easy to go make plays outside the pocket. For Brandon Harris to improve, he must become comfortable in the pocket so that he can get to his second and third reads in the passing game.
All just my very humble opinion, of course ;)
EDIT: yes I am aware the play I linked isn't a play where Harris leaves the pocket due to fear, but I think the clip adequately highlights the point that Harris' decision making isn't there yet. However, he is only a true sophomore and with all offseason to study film , his decision making can only improve (we all collectively hope).

To me, just putting Guice at WR would make defenses think twice and adjust. You don't have to give it to Guice all the time. Just make them adjust and open up the middle. Hand the ball to LF7 or throw to a TE over the middle. Simple adjustments can go a long way. I do feel that we can run some read option or allow Harris to move around in the pocket this year.
The plays he made improvisioning in the middle of the season last year were great to see. He kept his eyes down field while moving outside the pocket and hit Dupree on that long pass. Hopefully we can expect more of that this year.

BH never kept the ball , maybe because of the injury but for it to work the qb has to go with the correct read ....
