LSU has one RB (Williams) who has proven he can get tough yards. They have another (Jackson) who is BIGGER than Perkins.

Yep. And Emery is Back.

Is he harder to bring down than Jackson? Does he read holes better than our starting backs? Is he quicker to the outside than our RB's?
I doubt any of that is true, otherwise he would be a running back.
I thought the dumbest play we ran last year was giving Perkins the ball down on the goal line when we really needed to score to win the game. In the throws of a game, a simple thing like a hand off from the QB could very easily go wrong simply because they had not practiced it 'enough' to make it virtually fool proof. It worked out, barely and thankfully, but I would rather not see that again in his career at LSU. Give it to Jackson and take your chances. He is a much better ball carrier than Perkins, regardless of how many yards Perkins had in HS against much smaller players. Perkins is a menace when used properly, leave him on defense and use him correctly....creating chaos in the offensive backfield.

Right cuz he can’t get injured on defense

He much more valuable on defense than offense. Thats why you recruit by position. we have RBs that are better than him. We have... let me see.......zero LBs better than HP.

Let it stay as a 1-time tribute to Emery (I don't think anybody expected him back at that point).

Too much to lose to be a gimmick player, and I'm giving the ball to Kaleb Jackson in goal to go situations.

Also the risk of a goal line fumble. He won't be getting reps taking hand offs in practice. That type of stuff should be reserved for bowl games only.

It was a wrinkle in an otherwise meaningless bowl game. One implemented solely as a measure of fun for the players. How do you know this? Because Perkins was on the team all of last season and LSU NEVER implemented this play in any of the games of much greater consequence.

Yet, now you have bozos lobbying for this like Perkins is Refrigerator Perry. He's SMALLER than Caleb Jackson. As a RB he gives you nothing Jackson can't provide (an probably Josh Williams). The only thing it does give you is a greater risk of fumble because he's a guy whose not used to carrying the ball.

If you want an actual example of how dumb that thinking is, go back to the 2013 Alabama game. On LSU's opening possession they drive the ball almost the length of the field down Alabama's throat. LSU gets inside the Alabama 5 yard-line. That's a pretty advantageous spot when you have a RB named Jeremy Hill. So what does LSU do? Put their FB in a single back set and give him the ball. He promptly fumbles on a nearly clear path to the endzone. That one stupid mistake changed the entire flow of the game. LSU had a chance to take the lead immediately...in a first half where their offense was playing well. In fact, a few drives later they gave the ball to Hill inside the 5 for a TD.

The point is yes, JC Copeland in that instance was capable of carrying the ball. But when you have a power back like Hill why create much more risk for very little potential reward by given the ball to someone who rarely carries it?
