Watched him lay 37 points on the Celtics at the Boston Garden on December 21, 1960. ( I tended to be a ticket stub collector as a kid, noting final scores on each one.). That was high for the game against a Celtics team that included Cousy, Russell, the "Jones Boys",Tommy Heinsohn, Frank Ramsey, Big Jim Loscutoff and the immortal Gene Conley, who had just been traded to the Red Sox the week before and was a big topic of conversation in the Boston press.

The 200-mile RT trip to the game was a surprise Christmas gift from my Dad because he knew Cliff Hagan of the Hawks was my favorite NBA player at the time.

Little could I know that years later I would be living in an apt. at "The Graduates" on Bob Pettit Blvd. in Baton Rouge, LA as an LSU student!!

He sucks...it is time for him to retire...the game has passed him by...JACK HUNT!

Oh, my bad...I thought this was still the "Happy Birthday, Jim Hawthorne" thread.

Pettit hit the big 8-0 today.

Great man, great family. His son lives in BR just off campus. Truly a classy man. Tailgates on the baseball field if you looking for him on game day.

Cliff Hagan was one of my favorites too. He and Petit gave a clinic at Baton Rouge High one year. I couldn't believe Hagan's hook shot and tried to develop one just like it. I think Hagan was only about 6'4" and playing forward in the pros but that hook shot was a great equalizer.

For both Celtics and Bruins, on several occasions each.
