Hanny will likely tell us if House might be retained and maybe why it could work

Coach Kelly and House could have come to an understanding before or after the Texas A&M game. Kelly may have seen how he can work well with House in making defensive adjustments learning variations of defenses that can be applied based on the talent LSU has. The success LSU’s defense had later in the second half probably helped to show how they can work together.
As far as recruiting and LSU’s other coaches on defense, there’s not an ounce of doubt that Kelly will want a defensive staff that can both attract elite talent and develop them.
I’m most looking forward to how Hanny feels regarding the possibility of retaining House, and how that might work. Maybe he hates it maybe he sees a reason why it can work. But I trust Hanny far more than any of the other sports radio personalities in Baton Rouge when it comes to LSU.

I don’t see House being retained. Bad move on the field, even worse for PR

Firing a DC coach so soon without having the talent on the field, isn’t a great PR move either.

Does anyone actually think House didn't want a championship defense? Seriously?
So what kept that from happening?
Poor talent evaluation?
Injuries to key players that we couldn't afford?
Did House get run out of KC? no.
SO why was the D so bad?
Why don't they know how to use Perkins?
Did other offenses figure Perkins out?
Or is it a mixture of all of this with no clear and clean answer - yes.
So, with or without House, we have to improve the talent on D.
Also, we won't have the number one offense in America. Not even close. Can you really expect Hilton, Anderson, and Lacy to become that in the off season?
The frustration on third down this year almost had me violent. So, I am with all of you wondering how many of the above issues apply.

Im so glad they waited until the second half of our last regular season game to shake things up and try a new approach

The only benefit of the doubt I can give to Matt House is that it doesn't matter what defense you call if the DL gets completely dominated every play.
The flip side to this and the reason I want House gone is that the DL doesn't allow WIDE open WRs all game long. The DL doesn't miss tackles and take bad angles. AND most importantly, the DL didn't fail to spy Jalen Milroe with the best spy in the country!!!

Might not actually publicly "fire" him if he encourages him to find another job and he moves on.
Also, not the best PR move publicly or internally to tell the world your players suck and that is why your DC is staying.
Kelly has a tightrope to walk on this.

The PR will be bad if he’s retained. You can’t retain a guy who fielded arguably the worst defense in the history of LSU. Doesn’t matter how much of a lack of talent there was this year, it’s not like he’s killing it in recruiting to rectify that

You realize LSU isn’t going to consult Hanagriff as to whether they should dump House?

If you call a defense that has the DL standing up their man and reading the play it will get completely dominated every play.

Dave Aranda had a lot of success using his DL to take up blocks and hold their ground. It really depends on having the right type of players. I agree that I'd rather have the DL attacking but to say that read and react never works is naive.
