Herman's agent used the LSU offer for leverage. It's the most credible idea so far.

Its called a negotiation and hearing both sides.
Great AD's MAKE IT HAPPEN or at least try.
The cuck got upset when a blue blood came to the table and tucked tail and ran.

How do you know this?

You think Texas decided to fire Charlie and had Herman wrapped within a couple hours?
Absolutely not. Texas admins were talking to his agent all season, I'm quite sure. The question is, was LSU doing the same? And if so, shouldn't they realize at some point that he wasn't coming here? I mean, it appears even you knew that.

Story all season long was that Herman was waiting on the Texas offer. Do you agree?
I agree that all year long Herman was on LSU's and Texas' short list. Looks like we lost out.

If Herman or jimbo wanted to be at LSU, they would be at LSU.

Orgeron is still a stop gap until the Tigers find a more suitable candidate, which is why his buyout is reported to be low or non existent.
Wow you cant be serious. We hired O because there wasnt any other suitable candidates at the moment?
The spin on this is great

Texas is probably laughing their arse off.
They showed up and we literally ran away after trying to secure a "secret hand shake" deal before they showed up to talk
.
A perfect phrase for this- " is this real life?"

Why is O's buyout so low?

Why so angry? Until O wins the SEC he is a fail. That is all there is to it. This of course applies to any of the other 'candidates'.

its come out through various media outlets that Alleva left the table when Herman wanted to talk to Texas.

Don't you believe that it's the AD's job to make them WANT to come here. To sell it? He failed at that. That's all I'm saying. If those 2 people were never coming here, then we shouldn't be hearing their names mentioned on the short list all season long.

It is completely beyond my understanding that somehow Alleva thinks that he shouldn't have to compete for a desirable hire. Refusing to get into a "bidding war?" WTF. In other words he is refusing to try to make a good hire. If someone is worth bringing in then you will have to beat out competition to get them. I can take trying and missing out. We might not have gotten Herman anyway, but only showing token interest to back out when any sign of competition is shown is simply pathetic.

Herman and Jimbo (allegedly) either had no interest in coming and/or turned down offers that already would have made them overpaid. That's not on Alleva.
Being unprepared for that eventuality when he had 6 weeks all to himself to scout out other prospects, even if O was the ultimate choice, is inexcusable.
