redfield, that is something that I can definitely agree with and the same could go for Alleva IMO if he is hellbent on keeping TM7 off the team like he was so hellbent on believing that the Duke Lacrosse players were so vigorously guilty.

It should go like this:
1) Athletic dept makes sure his classes are all lined up for this semester & this semester only.
2) He provides weekly proof of therapy/rehab.
3) other than the above, he gets the same amount of access to the team, coaches, athletic department, academic support & s&c facilities as the average student - none.
4) At this point I see random drug screens as pointless.
5) He can show up to next fall camp with the walk on's. If he fails again, he simply doesn't play.

Personally, I don't think anyone at LSU "prevented" TM from sitting out a year and potentially coming back. To the contrary, I think that's exactly what LSU offered, and the offer/punishment was completely rejected at first.
It's just my opinion, but I'd be willing to bet it was TM (or his family) that had the problems with sitting out a year per LSU's rules.
Again, I think the ability for TM to sit out a year and rejoin the team in 2013 has been an option from the beginning, it was merely an option that was probably not acceptable (at first) to TM and his family, but as the emotions subsided they began at least considering that.

I would just like to say I speculated this was the case Friday.

If anything anyone learns from this it should be to never trust anything glen Guilbeau prints

I was thinking this when I read the thread about teams asking permission to speak with Mathieu. If he was permanamtly dismissed from the team that would not have been necessary. Those schools asking permission made it sound more like he was on suspension and show interest in tranfering

I agree. It seems to me TM would have a complete understanding of what the disciplinary action consisted of and his options. If he's saying he wants to sit out a year and return in 2013 then, we can conclude that has to be an option. Otherwise we have to believe TM completely misunderstood what was said to him.

he could have just been emotional over the whole thing, then visited McNeese and realized he was going from the Penthouse to the Outhouse.
IMO, he would be screwing up trying to stay at LSU. He can go on McNeese one semester, play ball, get some monster stats and turn pro.

Guilbeau doesn't care about credibility or accuracy. He wants attention...that's it.

@dkurica He's likely past three, considering LSU's actions last Friday.
Any time someone says likely, they really don't know shite. He's not reporting on a story, he's trying to be the story using phrases like..

MORE CONFUSION: Unless LSU changes its mind, its drug policy or manipulates its drug policy, Tyrann Mathieu is done playing football at LSU.
He's a major arse. All of his statements on this are meant to gain attention.

no i didn't...if you are going to flame, get your facts straight. I said there was a meeting. That much is owed to Mathieu. That does not mean that mathieu will be invited back next year. You guys really can't see that LSU people are being very careful what they say, perhaps from legal issues, or for PR, or whatever, but if you guys can't see clearly that LSU has washed their hands of him as far as an LSU football player...then wow....lot of wishful thinking. I have no idea why, but clearly the coaching staff and administration felt it best to wash their hands of him and didn't want him on the team anymore.....there is no simpler way to say it. They expected he would go to FCS....he hasn't as of yet...so they are being very careful with their words, for whatever reason. If they wanted him back after a year, they would come out and say it. come on.

I guess you don't belong to the gridiron club
Posted on 8/14/12 at 3:23 pm to VC
how often does LSU meet with their players post removal? especially 4 days after.
and no they would not come out and say it. not until they feel the situation warrants it.

I think so too, unless his head is really not right.

Sounds like this is a stipulation meeting
no it doesn't. LSU owes him that much. If they wanted him back next year, they would come back out and say it. If you read between the lines from what Les is saying.....he is saying all the right things, except that he is offering absolutely no hope or optimism for rejoining the team...rather he is focusing on this year's team....which he made clear. Not wanting to give out premo....but let's just say some are saying lsu expected him to transfer...and are being very careful with their wording.

oh ok...they want him... but they don't want him to know it...I see where you are coming from now.

As opposed to sitting for a year, getting his personal business straight and returning for his senior season and graduating.
Yeah, terrible idea

yeah i agree....they wouldn't want him to know that they really want him back next year....and aren't worried that by not telling him that he could go transfer somewhere...even a d1 school....yeah, that makes perfect sense. They want him, they just don't want him to know. You people are something else. Geez....let it go. he is gone.....the sky isn't falling, it isn't the end of the world.
