I agree that DD needs to go the OU route. Just like Saban does with football. If you can't change the rules to your advantage, go with the flow and beat everyone at their own game.

I think we have a lot of shoes to fill next season, going to have some growing pains early

The only girl that can legit contribute from this incoming class would be Reagan Campbell

We've kept a coach here for 40 years that's never won a national championship? Wow

It'll be fun to see the new faces get their shot. I'm so proud of what this senior class has been able to accomplish though.

INB4 all of the gymnastics "fans" forget about gymnastics all year.

New facility, consistent second place finishes, 10k+ attendance, and we're struggling in recruiting? What's up with that?

It would seem with the runner up finish last year and the new facility this would be another incredible class. I realize they start getting commitments from 14 and 15 year olds so maybe the effects of the training facility have not fully manifested.

This isn't me bashing our coaches but this incoming class is very average to what we usually bring in.

Next year we have Christina Desiderio coming in from the elites, assuming she isn't attempting to go for the olympics in 2020, which wouldn't be smart, she'll be much older by then

We may have struggled early....we were just too tight...but they closed like champions and went and took 2nd away from UF, who did all they could on their bars rotation. I couldn't be prouder of the HEART these girls showed down the stretch

Those beam performances were breathtaking. So glad we have Myia and Finn coming back

And they couldn't get 10s....

Once again, frick the judges.

We really need Ruby to clean up her bars routine next season, we need another high score on the event

Yep.

And I got downvoted for saying Gnat should've taken her place on bars. I don't think I'm crazy to be saying that. Gnat's bar routine is damn good

ETA: accidentally upvoted myself trying to upvote you

Honestly, a 197.735 would win a national championship any other year. It's higher than 8 of the last 17 champions.

Ruby has her faults on bars, but I PROMISE you gnat doesnt have a good form on bars, she would have gotten murdered by these judges. Her last routine at home which was the best in her life was completely overscored on senior night. Nothing against Gnat (she isn't a natural bar worker at all) but when I tell you it just wouldn't have been pretty. Ruby isn't horrible at all, she has some minor things to correct but she has zero consistency on her dismount landing

I'm not saying Ruby is bad but when Gnat has gone in before she's done well, often better than what Ruby has done.

How much worse can Gnat be when Ruby is getting ripped by the judges as well?

ETA: hell, you said earlier that name recognition matters. If Ruby can't get any favorable scoring why not put Gnat in and just see what you can get?

People need to understand with Ruby, what made her so successful as a gymnast at the elite level was her ability to perform extremely difficult routines that most cannot do. The problem is college gymnastics is all about form and being clean, something she is a bit inconsistent at. She hits good handstands but her release move always has slight leg separation and sometimes she goes over on handstands.

I think they need to work to minimize these faults this off season
