Guys you all know how I feel about Miles, but we can't fire him right now

way too much money on that contract and it would cause too much disruption with his loyal assistants (namely wilson, but raymond is a key guy in my eyes, too. i don't think orgeron would care who his HC is but i don't know if we'd retain him, either)

i don't think we'd take a PR hit like the "Solich" factor, b/c the national media and coaches know that Miles is severely flawed. also, an up and coming coach like Hermon or Fuente would not give an iota of fricks if they got the shot at a program like LSU. coaches are egomaniacs and they all believe they are better than guys they replace.

but it's just too "late". too many fans defended miles for far too long and he's just too entrenched in our program and culture. he isn't the super elite recruiter (in terms of overall team building, mind you) that he's protrayed as, but he still pulls in classes. the big sign a coach has checked out is that he basically quits recruiting. however, if we lose franks, that's a damning indictment for our program going forward.

miles needs at least 1 more year of failure (due to his stubbornness and structurally defective offensive system and questionable DC hire) in order to really set things up. i think it is much more likely he would consider retiring/resigning after next year, which would allow a lot more flexibility in the transition to another coaching staff.

also, there are some heavy hitters who will be hiring this offseason and it may be best if LSU is the clear top dog in the offseason where we replace miles

this is what you get for not fighting the good fight earlier and for not converting others once you saw the light

we are benevolent and forgiving, but you have to display your faith (or refrain from sulking)

I think most people now agree with the timing here.

This excuse holds no water. The money is there, they just don't have the balls to do it. That's the reason he's here until he decides to leave.

I don't agree. As you said, there are so many positions out there, what happens if someone takes a chance at Frank Wilson and Ed Orgeron? Then Miles' recruiting will be dead.

His recent hires of his friends as co-ordinators in Cam, BDP, and Steele are what cost Dinardo. Do we have to wait this time until we only win 2 games like Dinardo did?

There are a lot of young, energetic coaches that would thrive with what LSU has to offer.

Do not want Miles fired. But Alleva has to step up and force him to make changes with hiring coaches that are his friends or ones that make him feel comfortable.

As I said, I want miles to stay 2 more years. But now is the time to do something that seems to not work out well, hire Adam Gase now as your coach in waiting to run the offense for two years then take over in 2018.

Would that of made any difference?

Miles was here before Alleva. I think Alleva is too afraid to fire Miles.

that's a big assumption on both ends

but ignoring the money factor, i said he's already too entrenched in the university and program

that's b/c too many people gave him a pass for so long

You make a good point. I think LSU is between a rock and a hard place right now.

Miles is going nowhere. The athletic dept is making money. We're graduating players. We're putting players into the NFL. Everyone is happy except the crazy fans, including myself. We'll win 8, 9 or 10 games year but will never compete for a championship with Miles' conservative, non passing offensive attack. 2nd year in a row where Mile's has killed the will of his own players. The players have zero confidence in his game plans.

I disagree with the "competition with other programs for coaches" argument. LSU would have the top 1 or 2 picks from any available coaches on the market.

He has been exposed and will run this fine program into the ground.

if that happens then there will be more weight on miles and will allow evaluations in the future

Cam hasn't worked out, but he was a good hire at the time. we don't get to go back and cherry pick good ideas in teh past that didn't work out

BDP is an issue, but he does help with recruiting and he's miles "head coach on the sidelines". i clearly think this is an issue. in his defense, peveto has coached up the LBs this year

steele was a philosophy shift (with orgeron). miles just had a DC who wasn't a recruiter and wanted more emphasis on recruiting to compete with Bama. this is due to the recruiting issues that are in full display this year with our depth, and will be on display next year. he wasn't hried b/c he was "miles' friend"
