Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), which represents the likes of Kendrick Lamar, SZA, ScHoolboy Q and Jay Rock, announced Friday it is opening up a sports division and its first client will be former LSU running back Derrius Guice.

Guice, who said he is a big fan of Kendrick Lamar, also said that he liked the idea of being the firm's first and only client.

Interesting move for DG. I actually think something like this will work out well for him with respect to his side hustles/endorsements outside of the playing field.

I'm very surprised he didn't sign with Lil Wayne's agency considering he was partying with that agent at the Super Bowl last year.

Should have signed with No Limit Sports.

Looks like TDE is the one that got him that Rolls-Royce. It’s pretty sweet.

I hope this works out well for him. I have to be honest, when I read this I couldn't help but flash back to Ricky Williams signing with Master P, who then negotiated one of the worst deals in the history of the NFL draft.

There is literally no skill involved in negotiating a rookie contract with the new CBA. It's all slotted. If they can get him a few endorsements then that's icing on the cake

No Limit was the first thing that came to mind. Hopefully for DG this works out, but it's a gamble.

Rookie contracts aren’t the same now as they were then.

This might be the reason that he's training in California. At first it seemed odd that he chose Los Angeles to do his pre draft training. My first thought that came to mind was all the distractions and temptations LA has to offer. He's overcome so many obstacles that all good things need to come his way.

Agree, it made me think the same. The agent working for the company is said to be experienced, which is good if true. Also have the rookie pay scale which will help keep things in line. That being said, if it were my choice, give me a well known established agent like a Drew Rosenhaus.

I literally never heard of one of those guys in the original post.
Is Hank Williams not cool anymore?
