I'm assuming sports agents are bank rolling some of these young men to opt out. The uncertainty with COVID-19 is simply too great.

I expect too lots of high draft-eligible talent will opt out of spring football.

Geaux Tigers.

If they do not play and do not get drafted, they should sue the agents who took advantage of them.

You do realize that if the player doesn’t get drafted then the agent would have forwarded money to a player for 8 months of lodging, food, training, and transportation to get absolutely zero in return?

These agents aren’t dumb they are offering this deal to players they know will be drafted within a certain spot. They have probably already spoken to NFL teams about how they will handle players that opt out and they probably specifically ask about the players before coming up with a deal.

This has nothing to do with Covid, that is just the excuse. Expect this trend of talented Juniors opting out to continue until Agents are no longer allowed to pay players.

A lot of you guys hate personal injury attorneys. The secret is the same. If you pay the clients before settlement, you can recruit in some very questionable clients and make some very questionable cases. All this tort reform is BS until you disallow lawyers (Agents) from advancing to clients.

Yes so they going to pay (run a tab) for these kids and family expenses for 6-8 months let’s say it’s $80,000.00. When that signing bonus comes in they will take the money back so when a $150,000 signing bonus for 3rd round comes in, agent going to take his 10% ($15,000) then back out money loaned to him let’s say the $80,000, pay taxes. He will be lucky to get $15,000 - $20,000 after it’s all said and done. And he has to live off that until his checks from the league start rolling in!

Wrong if they are taken within the first 70 picks of the draft the agents do not make them pay the money back. Jacob Hester has said this on numerous occasions.

I don’t think NFL teams are going to rate players lower this season because of the COVID. Not necessarily the virus itself but the fact that the football season has been effected. I don’t think this is the case for every season and why I don’t think it will be a trend. Will someone do it? Probably but I just don’t see it being a lot of players.

The agents have so much leverage because there is doubt a full season even happens, two conferences aren’t even playing, why risk your body, go train for months, you can stop going to class too.

Agents are feasting.

Why should agents not be allowed to pay players?

You are way overestimating how much agents are willing to forward to non-stud clients.

It’s a shame that players like shelvin buy into this. My heart brakes for him as he has likely played ball for the last time.

They are over 18 and can make their own choices. Parents have zero to do with this.
