Because he’s a selfish boy that’s giving up on his team. College football is about the team and this is going to set a turrible standard in college football. There will be more and I hope the NFL sees this as a weakness for all that do it. Being a good person is not always the easiest or safest, but most still do it. Why? Because it’s the right thing to do. Let’s not live because we might die! Fire away idiots, but it shows your character. If you’re not in the playoffs, we all sit out. Smh! Have some pride for yourself and your team!

Will it be alright for Orgeron to kick him off the team now?

What if LSU was playing for the national championship? How is that situation any different? Would you applaud him sitting that game out, too? Since he has a daughter and all? Give me a fricking break.

That's what these "yeah but he might get injured" figs don't realize... injury can come anytime from anywhere... How many games did Guice play in when he got injured?

With that mindset, wtf did Greedy even play this season? He could have been injured

I'm with you, me and a coworker were talking about it a couple days ago. Get an insurance policy before the season starts. I think it's a bitch move but I'm old school.

Not the point. Go back and reread. If the argument is that he's a top draft pick and has a daughter and therefore the bowl game is not important enough to jeopardize that, then a championship game wouldn't be either. So then everyone should be fine with players quitting whenever they feel like the scenario is best for them personally and should have no commitments to their coaches and teammates.

Yes! He’s quitting on his team so why not?

I mean if we were in SEC Championship and Playoff contention, he could play up to 3 additional games over the 1 more bowl game he'd play this year.

If you're sitting out 1 game for fear of an injury a few months from draft prep, why wouldn't the same logic be applied to 3 games? that's certainly a hell of a lot more risk.

Those career threatening injuries in meaningless bowl games for draft eligible Jaylon Smith (ND) and Jake Butts (Michigan)in recent years has made me reluctant to criticize these guys decisions.

It's absolutely the point. The bowl game is meaningless. That's why he's not playing in it. If it meant a championship, he would be playing.

The career threatening injury could have happened 2 weeks ago in a meaningless game against Rice.

BS move no matter how you look at it. This is not a meaningless bowl game. If he is worried about getting injured, then buy a disability policy like some other high profile draft picks do.

doesn't owe the fans or anyone anything

Well if he doesn’t owe us anything and we don’t owe him anything and he doesn’t owe the school anything, then what the frick are we all doing here in the first place? If no one owes anyone anything then it’s every man for himself and no one is looking out for the greater good.

Let’s just keep losing our best juniors every year and losing to Bama and Florida or losing our bowl game every year. Then we can come back on the Tiger rant and start bitching about how much we suck and argue with each other and do it all over again next year.

I don't like it but I probably wouldn't either with tens of millions on the line.

I think he would play if it was a championship game, but what’s the difference? He is still risking injury in that game too. Is a chance (not guaranteed) at a college championship worth the 20 million that he would be risking in the nfl if he was hurt in that game?
I don’t like it, and this trend gets worse every year. Oliver has been milking a minor injury and sitting out the last 5 games for Houston .
Bad precedent being set here.

Ya know, Guice thought he was gonna be a first rounder too. What kind of message does a player that quits on his team send to NFL scouts. This could backfire on him. Is Devin still gonna play?

The ‘daughter ‘ excuse is a laugher lol. An excuse for greed. Billions of daughters have been raised just fine without millions of dollars.
