Taking care of your family first is absolutely a statement of character, so you're not entirely wrong.

Agreed. This says nothing negatively whatsover about the young man's character. He's given no reason to doubt his character at all as a Tiger.

he should have sat out the whole season if playing is such an untenable risk. Risk of an injury by playing in the bowl game that hurts his draft stock is very small. There is only one example of it ever even happening. It does come off as a low character move and disrespectful to your coaches, teammates and school.

It is one of the reasons Devin White is given so much respect. Look at the difference in the two. Greedy was a great player for LSU but this is not a good decision for a man. He is young still and not mature so will no doubt grow up and learn about the kind of things that are important in this life and grow into manhood

you can do both, such as Devin White is doing. That is one of the reasons he is earning so much respect. It is not like taking care of your family and playing in the bowl game is an either or decision.

Can you blame him?

LSU hired Alleva who hired O who hired E as the OC

Afraid we will have to agree to disagree.

I wasn't taught to quit. I'm not passing that quality on to my son either.

I totally understand why Greedy is doing what he is doing. I just don't agree with it and feel it sends the wrong message.

And it's not like Greedy sitting out makes him a bad person. Like get the frick out with that stupidity.

He isn't quitting. The bowl game is nothing but lagniappe.

Oh really?

Your definition and mine must be different.

There’s more to life than money. You can’t buy heroism. You can work though, you can be a coach or a trainer if things bottom out.

After everythings said and done, people in LA will only remember him for walking out. And I’m saying this as a former huge fan of his, huge. TM7 and PP7 were my favorites, along now with Devin White now after this year. Loved how he played, his competitiveness, and now, meh. Lost all interest in his career and what he’s done.

Our definition of the importance of the bowl game is different, not in what quitting is. He finished out the regular season.

Don't speak for everyone because I definitely won't think that and I doubt the recruits that come in over the next decade and see his accolades all over the wall will think that either.

It's Greedy's personal decision not to play, and he's entitled to make that decision. I will always root for him in the NFL. Use whichever adjective you want, but he's not finishing out the season. It's not a big deal, and I truly believe that he would be playing if we were in the playoffs, but LSU committed a scholarship to him regardless of how he performed this season. I'm tired of the criticisms, but it's a fair criticism.

I can pretty much guarantee "Greedy Williams, former LSU All-American and 1st round draft pick" is brought up before "Greedy Williams, bowl sitter-outter" in pretty much all normal conversations.
