quote:

"When you call a play and have answers to every coverage and every blitz, that's a good feeling," Burrow said. "If they drop eight and take away all the verticals, I have (running back) Clyde (Edwards-Helaire) underneath and I can check down. I have a flat route coming across the formation. I have answers no matter what they give us."

LINK

The article is actually about Terrace Marshall catching 3 touchdowns and how he was still recovering last season from high school injuries. But, this quote really jumped out at me. It's so refreshing to hear an LSU quarterback say that.

Burrow probably knows as much (maybe more) about a QBs responsibilities in the Spread/RPO as Joe Brady does. Great when you coach-level savvy in the box and on the field as well.

Well, except for when they drop 10 into coverage. Been watching football a long time and I don’t think I’ve ever seen that.

If they drop 10 in coverage, he can just run the ball himself. Problem solved.

One of Marshall’s TDs, the motion WR screen, was from a play the Saints run all the time :)

I don't think I noticed this watching live. I was watching the replay yesterday and I was like wtf is going on. I don't think Burrow or the o line knew what to do for a second.

It was during the first drive of the second half, I believe. Georgia Southern was basically throwing the kitchen sink at our offense in desperation.

TL, it’s hard to imagine that LSU has a QB this knowledgeable and skilled.

It definitely gives me a lot of confidence when you think of all of his quotes like this one since Brady got here and add to that his performance on Saturday. Could be a really special season coming up in 2019. It's gonna be a hell of ride.

That is a great quote but I like this one better: " I wanted 60!"

When was the last time we could think on 3rd and 3 whether to run OR pass...

This is exactly what i was hoping for out of what Brady was bringing to the offense, Call it what you will: check downs, release valves, hot routes, etc.

Before anyone says it, I understand that not all of the things i listed are the same thing. It is the variation and options available in this offense that’s I am excited to see.

Burrow’s complete understanding along with his toughness and utter calmness is pretty rare. We better enjoy the ride—the combo of all his attributes doesn’t come along very often.

Absolutely. That was my biggest takeaway from the Spring Game. There was always an outlet for Burrow if everyone was covered downfield. We've been missing that aspect of the offense for a long, long time.

I’m continually amazed, and somewhat impressed, that you find enough time to take Burrow’s d!*k out your mouth long enough to post the amount of over-inflated plaudits on here you do about him. Or maybe you are just that good at multitasking.

ETA: To OP, good catch and this is a very refreshing quote. Nice to see we finally have an offense designed to do this and to our players’ strengths; and that we have a QB that knows how to execute it.

TigerLaw, you disgusting foul-mouthed imbecile... Burrow lives football (as Brady does). But Burrow was brought up in this Spread/RPO with a dad who is a college coach, and two brothers who played big-time football. Brady learned it as GA.

Brady certainly understand the full scope of this offense - WR routes, RB routes, O-Line blocking assignments, etc. and etc. But you are even stupider than you appear if you don't understand that Burrow has studied his positional responsibilities far, far more than Brady has. Further, Brady has never PLAYED the QB position.

None of my assessments are "over-inflated". If anything they are conservative. You are simply too damn stupid to see that every stat I have predicted is right on track.

BTW, I said Burrow would throw at a 68%+ completion rate in his first game out. He did... 85.2%.

GFY Jerk!

It was a thing of beauty. Burrow's football IQ is off the charts. Ready for the Texas game.
