I agree. That was a shitty way to "de-commit."

Well, I just won't show up, I guess they'll figure it out.

Miles and the other coaches are just supposed to say, "Well, I guess he had a change of heart. I mean, don't you think?"

"Sure seems like it coach but who knows. No one heard from him."

All that results in speculation from the coaches who recruited him. Are they supposed to be professional with the way they handle it? Sure. Can they get a little annoyed with how it went down at the 11th hour? Damn right. I don't blame Miles for saying what he said.

Why? Seriously , why should there be a double standard? Personally, I didn't have a problem with oversigning to an extent.

If it wasn't an EE situation, I would completely agree with your points, but this was an EE and it cost us another recruit.

I am more upset at the process as I assume LM was/is. You know it wasn't until Saban said "pimps" that anything was actually done about the agents.

And if anything, I think it might have been bigger in '08 than any other year he's been here.

Miles is doing his job by appealing to the frustrations of the fan base. Unfortunately, at the expense of Gunner Kiel, who did indeed frick LSU out of two very good recruits including himself. There is a definition to the word commitment, and Kiel proved he was not committed by his actions. period.

Gottlieb basically did the exact same thing Miles did by appealing to the interests of his listeners, which is to be interesting, provocative, and controversial. Unfortunately, it was at the expense of Les Miles who did, in fact, call out an 18 year old MAN for not following through on his commitments. A lesson he probably should have learned by this point in time in his life. If not, its on the parents, who took the blame in the first place.

Just my $0.02.

I haven't bothered reading through the entire thread, but 25 credit card fraud jokes are the bare minimum anytime Doug Gottlieb tries to bash anyone.

heres the thing, did Les say anything egregious? no, but should he have said anything at all? frick no

what is there to be gained? all youre going to do is come off exactly like he's being portrayed. call out nick saban or alabama, but not a recruit, thats just dumb

the average age of the people responding they have no problem with this have to be between 12-24.

I just dont see how a fellow adult could be ok with a middle aged man that is the CEO of a multi-million dollar product mocking a teenager for the thrill of those in attendance.

It isnt about Kiel's reaction or his feelings. Its about Miles acting like an adult and THINKING before he says something, which is has become blatantly apparent he doesnt do.

One could also argue it sets a precedent for future recruits who are contemplating deceiving the LSU program by hiding under the guise of committed, when they are in fact, anything but. This is not the first time this has happened to Miles (see J. Jackson). I can't blame Miles for reminding recruits that they better have the chest to commit to the program, otherwise Miles will call you out if you are detrimental to the recruiting class, even if it maybe unintentional.

GK broke his word and it caused ripples in the LSU program. Making and keeping a promise is fundamental to enter into adulthood. Maybe GK will take the step eventually. Miles is treating him like a man instead of a the child he is by calling him out on his broken commitment. With great talent come great responsibility...hopefully this kid will be more responsible in the future. Geaux Tigahs and Give'em hell Les Miles.

I think its a little milder than that. Its a booster rally. Hes rallying the fans and is pumping up his own players...Should he have said it? No. The shitty thing in all this is that Brian Kelly will say much worse about him every day on the field and Nick Saban did a far worse thing by pulling two schollies but you will never see anything about that.

Get over yourself.

He's supposed to just lay down and say nothing about Kiel? It was hardly egregious.

The kid committed to Indiana, de-commited, committed to LSU, never showed up (in his mind, de-commited but didn't have the balls to tell any of the coaches that recruited him. Take the pansy way out and just not say anything or show up.)

The coaches have a right to be a little annoyed knowing that it cost them 2 very good recruits. Like I said in an earlier post, I don't blame Miles for saying what he said.

I doubt, highly, he said it simply to "thrill those in attendance."

If you hate the guy so much, which you obviously do, you can't make one post without pissing on the man, take your hate somewhere else. You'd make a good Bama fan.

By itself I would probably ignore it, but the problem here is that it's consistent with a long-term pattern of behavior where Miles's ego is getting more and more out of control. People can write me off as a disgruntled former fan of Miles all they want, but I'm telling y'all right now, the guy feels high and mighty and he's getting farther and farther out of touch with perspective. My bet is that we'll continue to see more incidents like this from Miles in the future.

You're agenda is clear!

BTW: I approve of what Miles said, and I'm older than the age range you chose to select.

Feel free to keep adding to the pussification of America.

18 year olds aren't kids. Nothing wrong with what Miles said cause what Kiel did was punk arse.
