Good pitching always beats good hitting
Posted by Riolobo

This thread is for all the negative Nancy’s that will pop up in the baseball threads this year. Ole Miss scored 4 runs against Arkansas in 2 games in Omaha last year and still won the natty. We have some really good arms that are going to shut down teams this year. Also pitching is going to be way ahead of hitting in February and March. Sit back, relax, and get ready for a great season.
Only real concern I have on the team is infield. You can have amazing pitching but if you have no infield they're going to make them look worse than they are. LSU wasn't exactly great there last year.
That said, LSU's roster looks like it has a ton of power pitchers that can just throw heaters right past contact. How many guys in the bullpen can toss 95+ MPH fastballs? Seems like a lot.

SEC could pitch a staff of Verlander, Nola and Ohtani. Crews will still hit with Rhymes’ consistency and Belle’s power
NOTHING and I mean NOTHING will rob me of my irrational off-season expectations!

Jay seems pretty happy about the defensive progress of
White and Thompson, so there is some optimism.
I also think the power bats of this team benefits us in a pitchers duel. We don't need a ton of hits to score points.

The pitching and in-fielding was phenomenal by the last couple teams in World Series last year. It really stuck out to me how behind we truly were.

Good pitching usually beats good hitting. The word "always" shouldn't be used in baseball.

Elite pitching puts you there at the end. Timely hits against elite pitching wins championships
