Yeah but he's talking like an older, formerly great, vet on their last big deal where everyone expects maybe 2-3 really good years w/the rest of it being serviceable enough to play while the franchise is pumping out celebratory memorabilia as they approach whatever HOF accumulated stats number it is they're close to hitting.

That's not the kind of deal he has. Yes, it was for his past play but since he's he's only 27 he's also being paid big to play big for a minimum of 5-8 more years before he breaks into being more celebrated for hitting career milestones.



Fair or not fans will be more understanding of this kind of drop off for a guy nearing his mid 30s. Not so much for a guy in his prime.
