The rest for the pitchers will be well worth it though

It does give us a pitching advantage but I’m worried about losing game 1 on Friday and Anthony Eyanson not getting to pitch. I’m not sure if that helps him or hurts him not pitching for 2 weeks.

He’ll still pitch, just not in a live game

Jay said he was excited about all the practice work we’ll be able to get in this week. Team won’t leave for Hoover until Wednesday afternoon.

Don’t like single elimination in baseball except for the bottom seeds. Sixteen teams makes it tough to have double elimination. Other conferences have various ways of holding their tournaments. SEC needs to look at them and make some changes.

Hope we get Auburn. That was our worst weekend by far this season and didn’t help that nothing went our way.

Mizzou and usc have no business being in the tourney
Similar to no reason to include lsu or usc in the recent basketball tourney

From a record standpoint, no. That's just how they set up the tournament with 16 teams. If somehow one of them wins the tournament, they get an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

Get the down votes in here.

I’d sit Anderson and Eyanson until the regional. The SEC Tournament means nothing unless you need wins for a bid.

Why sit them though? I’m sure if you ask them they feel great and are excited to play for the SEC tourney title.

Why would you sit two best pitchers
You can bet Jay wants to win this tourney
Maybe you watch their pitch count and get relievers some work
I would give Schmidt some work for sure out of pen because you may need him in regional

I’d prefer leaving them out at going back to last years format of 14 teams and double elimination after day 1.

Heck after seeing South Carolina’s home crowd this weekend, they probably prefer to be left out too.

Based on what evidence?

Since he has been here he has made pretty obvious he uses the SEC Tournament as practices and to get his pitching lined up for the regional. Especially when a national seed is a lock for LSU.

Jay absolutely does not want to “win” the SEC Tournament. Long season lots of pitch’s and nobody (except fans and ADs $$$) gives a shite about conference tourney, unless you need a bid.

Last year and many years prior the SEC Tournament only had 12 teams, not 14, starting. The bottom two teams have not been eligible for participating in the tournament for quite a while.

So the tournament went from12 teams to 16 teams starting this year.

Also, the previous format meant the tournament returned to single elimination on Saturday after it was double elimination Wednesday through Friday. On Saturday an undefeated team could be eliminated by a team with a loss entering the game.
