We could, because there’s a frickload of better coaches out there right now.

I’d say probably half of the high school baseball coaches in LA would be a better coach than Mainieri is.

Or we would hire a HC the rest of the colleges wouldn’t want. Who would do such a thing? Lol

the problem with all this is that it's taken out of context. first, much of it relies on regular season wins in a sport that has a robust postseason tournament. second, how does that compare to what everyone else is doing? well, it falls a bit short

we usually make it to the CWS every other year under Mainieri
once in the last 4 seasons. started the season #1. didn't even win a cws game. hell, didn't even go 0-2 at the cws.

Wanting to fire a coach without knowing you can get a better replacement is also pretty fricking stupid.
you NEVER know ANY replacement is going to be better. there is NEVER a guarantee. but that doesn't stop you from making the change when you feel it's necessary. it's clear who all itt doesn't understand how ad's work. when you feel it's time for a change, you get the best available person based on the info you have at the time. curly hallman was a can't miss candidate that never got the program off the mat. saban had a good reputation but no one thought he was going to blow up into the best ever like he has. he wasn't a popular hire. people wanted dennis erickson. why are we taking a chance on this no name from mich st?

this is the stupidest response. there is no list because no one knows how any potential coach will do when they get here. you look at a lot of different factors to try to find the best fit. but the uncertainty is not a reason why you keep a coach that you feel needs to go. ad's make changes EVERY YEAR despite the uncertainty

having said that, there are several coaches that are outperforming pm

explain how the injuries were the cause of the sr loss. explain how they caused the baserunning mistakes. errors. inconsistent pitching from experienced, healthy pitchers.

Tell me about all the championships he has piled up in the last few years
over the last 10 seasons, cws appearances in 11/13/18, 4-6 record. lsu appearances in 13/15/17, 5-7 record. do you think unc is anywhere near lsu in terms of investment in the sport? this is just one lesser program that has equaled lsu's cws results recently.

what does he have to show for it?
more cws appearances, more cws wins, a nc in the last 10 seasons, possibly more depending on what they do this year.
