Actually, that bottom feeder played in a bowl game in 2008, and went 0-8 in the SEC last year.
And their coach quit 6 weeks before the season.

it isn't about points. we can score 20 points and only have 3 or 4 successful offensive plays all game (like the UNC game).
To win with this defense, we need 3-4 5:00+ minute drives that result in points. We don't have to score 35, but we have to get first downs and keep our defense off the field enough.
If we can do that, we'll probably finish the year with a top 20 (maybe top 10) defense. If we don't, the same defense will finish 50+. And, with an offense ranked between 60-100 and a defense over 50, we might not win 8 games.
