Give Les a break on last series...

All of the crap on this board is focusing on the last 2 plays of the drive, and our inability to gain 2 yards. So, let's go through it. First down, an 8 yd pass, now playing 2nd and 2. Here's where everyone has a meltdown.
The play call was genius - Mett executes a perfect bootleg, resulting in no pass rush as well as no one within 3-5 yards of Jarvis. Mett just simply did not execute on that play, period. On 3rd and 2, which we failed to pick up all game running the ball, we had to throw it.
The blame, if any, should be placed squarely on Mett not executing a simple throw and catch. Mett executes, we get 1st down, and the best Clemson can hope for is 1st and 10 at their 20 with 15 seconds remaining and no time outs.
I am in no way blaming the loss on Mett, but as far as that series went, he failed to execute.

It's not the last series that was the problem...it's the entire 60 minutes.
Defense on the field for 100 plays. I was cramping just watching them.

100 plays - It's well known that Chief owns the defense, so why couldn't we force more 3 and outs? Also, why couldn't our OL keep Mett from being sacked 6 times.
We got beat - get over it.

The blame is on Les Miles for allowing his qb to attempt a bootleg pass when he hasn't completed four of them all year long.
It's like blaming Kevin Gausman for hanging a curve all in the 9th inning when he throws a 98 mph fastball and has a great change up.
Why are we going with our 3rd best option of having Mett roll out pass when he is not a good passer on the run?

You must not have watched the game - every short yardage play was completely stuffed all game long. The play was there, and the team didn't execute the play. Even Mett said as much.
I bet you were complaining about running 2 straight times against Bama.

He completed a gorgeous one earlier in that very game, or didn't you notice? He rolled right and hit about a15 yard out over one defender and in front of another. It was a big league throw.

Maybe Chavis could help Miles with offense by telling him which plays he would not want to have to scheme for if he were coaching the other teams defense.

Don't use facts - all the Les haters don't want to hear it. The fact of the matter is that play was WIDE OPEN, and it just wasn't executed. Stuff happens.

The second down play call was perfect. The 3rd down play call is where I wish we had run the ball.

I know. I've worn out my finger typing that the call was good. These ijits still think we should run into a stacked box. Except one buffoon pointed out that we should run aroooouund the stacked box. I like that one

Bc that was a pass that the average high school QB makes 9/10 times. Just bc it failed doesn't mean the coach called the wrong play. Mett has to be able to hit an open WR right there or there's really no hope and no reason to expect to win.
Again, if the RB trips on his own feet despite having a big hole to run through, would you be complaining about the play call?

The term "genius" must have totally changed in meaning since the last time I looked it up.

Oh, you mean like our idiot coach did against bama to give the ball right back to them and lose the game.

Isn't Les Miles the guy that hires the OC? Case closed/thread

Wow - what, all two of them?
A few people are acting like they stuffed us 6-10 times.
10 YARDS PER CARRY. Did they ever stuff Hill two times in a row?

You know what running into a stacked box does - assures that the clock will most likely keep running.
Stacked box...it was the Clemson D, not the Bama D...
Clemson had to use two timeouts before they were even in FG position. The game could have been over.

I did see Mett complete one rollout earlier in the game. That gave him 3 completion's on the year from outside the pocket. 2 plays, 2 yards. Jeremy Hill has 125 yards in the game. At lthe worst, they stop you and burn all of their timeouts.
But go ahead, the few people on this site with their head in the sand know way mor than the entire college football world. Have you heard what people have been saying today? Neutral football observers, not nega-tigers.

No - next question.
You don't give your QB the chance to screw up the best chance at winning. Mett did not execute it. Our passing game struggled - why rely on them?

I pretty much agree, but no matter what happened before, you're in a very desireable position at the end. Correctly executing the last series coulda washed away a lot of previous derps.
