What? Why would he bolt?

Taylor is the starter. Markway as he did last year, figures to be the #2 in 2TE sets. You think Pimpton is going to sit on his arse another year with minimal playing time or do you think he jumps into the portal for someone in need of a pass catching TE. I know what I believe.

Markway seems to be the #2 with his blocking skills. Won't surprise me if Pimpton bolts soon.

You serious? Kelly has been talking about KP a lot and they specifically talked about wanting to see a lot of him in the spring game. I think Pimpton is already 2 on the list but I feel strongly that they're making sure he feels the love. I don't think he's going anywhere.

Talked about how great he was in camp last year too and then Markway played over him when the season started.

Last years team didn't exactly utilize the TE position in the passing game very much. Kelly talked about this year being different and how much more they're going to lean on that group. Pimpton is clearly a bigger factor in the passing game than Markway, so I think you'll see those roles reversed.

KPimp was also much more raw coming out of high school. But his potential is first round pick, he’s going to play this year

This, when you bring in the top TE in the Nation, it’s a numbers game.

“ HIGH SCHOOL
Outstanding tight end prospect from Zachary High School, just a few miles north of Baton Rouge … Rated with 4-stars and considered the top prep prospect in the state of Louisiana for the Class of 2024 … Listed No. 35 overall nationally and the nation’s No. 1 tight end in the On3 composite … Two-sport standout who also excels in basketball … Described as a “once-in-a-generation type of player” by an opposing coach because of his elite athleticism with a 6-foot-7 frame… As a junior in 2022, had 45 receptions for 864 yards and 11 TDs … Had 350 receiving yards as a sophomore … On the basketball court, averaged 27 points and 11 rebounds as a junior in 2022 … Earned First-Team All-Stat honors in 2022 at East Feliciana High School … In 2023 state title game, caught 8 passes for 97 yards and a touchdown … Finished senior season with 53 receptions for 960 yards and 12 touchdowns … Coached by David Brewerton.”

He was brought in as a band aid for the TE room to help with blocking since all the other guys were freshmen outside of Taylor last season. It was definitely never going to be a long term stay for him IMO.

And he sucked at blocking.

With how much the tight ends are used in this offense, he would've seen a good bit of playing time even as 4th string.

LSU’s 4th string TE last year played 6% of the total seasons snaps (50/796).

Mason Taylor 76%
Markway 19%
Gilbreath 6%
Pimpton 6%
McGowan 1%

I don’t think the usage is what you think it is

He's the best TE prospect we've ever had besides Arik Gilbert. His potential is through the roof. It's gonna be funny watching him snag jump balls over 6'1 db's like they're little kids
