Is Gibbs quickly becoming the greatest LSU catcher ever? People say he's having an all-american year, I think it's a legendary year

Gary Hymel had a good career for the Tigers, too.

Defensively, no one is close

You're 100% right. Now add that to the hitter he has become. I think the sky is the limit. Maybe, he hasn't had the best LSU career yet, but I think we are looking at a future MLB star. I really believe that.

Watching Dozar follow him, he will be tough to replace next year

Agreed. I think Gibbs may go down as the best so far...

Cresse was very good at the plate but only average behind the plate. Hymel was also very good but I think Gibbs will have hem beat, if he continues this pace.

Ryan Jorgensen was very close. Maybe even as good or better. He just got caught behind Cresse his only year with the Tigers.

Gibby's good, but Cresse's 78 career HRs(6th all-time NCAA) are being too easily dismissed in this thread.

30 of those came in his senior year, which Gibbs will likely not have.

Gibbs defense + hitting put him among the elite catchers in lsu history

Right now I think Cresse deserves that honor, but if Gibbs continues on this path then he very well may go down as the best.

Andro as I recall + the -5 or -7 bats were also used by cresse.
What I like about Gibbs is he didn't play his senior year and stepped in and played here. that says alot about his talent. Plus how many times have you seen PM pinch hit for him? As a switch hitter, I agree the sky is the limit with this guy.

"Ryan Jorgensen was very close."

Good recollection on that one. I had forgotten about him.

Cresse didn't play with the -5, I believe they used the -3's in 2000
