ochinko.

Other than ochinkos red hot start to the season, his entire carrer he has been an average to below average hitter. People who are saying that he has shown he can be consistent are crazy. As the competition got tougher this year his average went down.

Anyone who says ochinko is consistent has not paid much attention this season.

Good thing you aren't coaching the LSU team.

He got hot non-conference for a few weeks and his average went through the roof. Just becuase his average is still high does not mean he is hitting the ball well. Watch the games he is struggling at the plate regardless of his average he is not producing and has not in a while.

probably around .270
which means he'll hit over .285 the rest of the way, and that's against really good pitching

He was batting around .490 a month into the season against the crap teams, I believe.

I really do not understad the fanatical loyalty Nola breeds in y'all. I think he will be a very good player. He just isn't one right now and is clearly overmatched against SEC pitchers.

And his lauded defense, while good, is not demonstrtably better than DJ's. I do not feel the massive offensive hit we are taking to play Nola is worth the slight defensive upgrade, especially since it removes Schimpf's glove to the outfield, where it is less valuable.

And to answera much earlier question

Hanover is hitting 312/343/425
Nola is hitting 229/353/343

I am very unhappy with Hanover's lack of plate discipline. If he took an extra walk a weekend, his OBP would be about 400. But he's a good contact hitter and has shown power. I've got my problems with Hanover, but I think he's done as well as could be expected (which is put up virtually identical if not inferior numbers to Helenihi). Nola just can't hit right now at all.

I'm not really sure what Helenihi did to raise the ire of the Tiger faithful (and get benched by PM), but Helenihi will have the misfortune of losing playing time in two consecutive seasons to a player he clearly outhit (hollander last year and Hanover this year), all while being a plus defender. Amazing.

I like Nola. I really do. I just don't think he gives us our best chance to win RIGHT NOW.

Ya'll are gonna have to explain to me how Helenihi out hit Hollander last year, I'm missing that one

Hollander .297/.374/.459
Helenihi .295/.355/.407

Hollander also has more homers and rbis
