Who was the coach that was fired and he didn't know that he was fired until some local broadcaster told him the news? That incident was shown on live TV. I'm probably wrong but it seems like the broadcaster was from WBRZ. There was a big outcry about the reporter after the incident was shown on TV. I can't remember if the coach was DiNardo or some other coach. The sports broadcaster didn't last long after the incident. I wish that I remembered the sportscaster's name. I really felt sad for the coach after he was given the news on live TV.

Our cover guy was so horrible that he never looked for the ball in that eternity it was in the air, and it was a 1st down completion.
Believe that was Robert Davis, another 5’8 to 5’9 CB... he got burned all the time

My first LSU game to go to in person was at Ole Miss, in Gerry’s last year. Me and my best friend from high school, who I converted into an LSU fan, went with me. We were seniors in HS and drove up there ourselves. We pull up and park right behind some older LSU fans and they ask us if we want any Bloody Mary’s. They proceed to pull out like 3-4 gallon jugs of the stuff.
The game was a total disaster. Sat in the OM section. The Tepper d lived up to the hype. Rufus French had a field day. Faulk started to ball out and the game went to OT. I believe some OM WR caught the ball practically laying down in the end zone to win the game. Long drive back home, but me and my buddy have had the last laugh all these years.

Louisiana was always a hotbed of talent. Every coach had to know this. At one time it was Grambling.
Yeah, 25-30 years before Dinardo.

I appreciate Gerry Dinardo. The man brought LSU back to an era where most other schools could only dream of. I’ll never get the mass hatred. Yeah,I understand why he had to go - just like I now understand why Miles had to go. But to hate either one of them is kinda fricked.
They’re a part of where LSU is today.

Mike Archer.

But, looking back, it isnt exactly shocking an Italian from Queens didnt exactly see eye to eye with a bunch of rural white baws and black guys from the south
Yeah, Vince Lombardi sucked working with Bart Starr, Jimmy Taylor, Max Magee, Forrest Gregg, Willie Davis etc.
It had nothing to do with his ethnicity or being from New York.
Does it hurt Calipari or Petino in hoops.

Lou Tepper gets all the hate(probably because of the book and the dreaded "drop linebacker") but Bob McConnell was equally bad.
Dinardo likely alienated Watts and Reese.

Dinardo acted like a government bureaucrat. He was afraid to hire competent assistants because he was afraid they would upstage him.
That’s not exclusive to government. It happens in the private sector too.

Uhh, no shite, Sherlock. That was established in his post, to which you responded.

Yeah, most of the players didn't like him, which I don't think in and of itself is that big and issue - I think the same could probably be said of Saban and Bellichek.
I think a couple of his assistants sabatoged the program from within, Baldwin and Kelly...Baldwin because he was butt-hurt he did not get the DC job and Kelly because I guess he was buds with Baldwin and sided with him
From what I remember they did all they could behind the scenes to undermine DiNardo. I guess he felt it would have done more harm that good to can them at that stage, but those two actively turned their players against him..ACTIVELY.

Raion’s sister, Polly Esther, and his brother, Cotton, were unavailable for comment

Thanks for the response I couldn't remember the coach's name. LSU really was bad back then. With all of the bad coaches LSU had back then I was starting to believe that Charlie Mac put a curse on the LSU football program. Charlie Mac was a coach that I really did feel sorry for. I remember the season after he left LSU played Tulane in the dome. Tulane was beating LSU and Tulane had a big sign that read Keep Mac Packed.

I’ve spoken with several former players from that era, and they all preferred Hallman over Dinardo, despite the difference in record. Dinardo does deserve some credit for bringing excitement back to the program.

Dinardo was not a good enough coach to overcome Joe Dean as AD
His paranoia was largely due to his perception of a lack of support from Dean

It was? I missed it. I didn’t see any reference to the private sector in the post to which I responded.
Maybe you have shite for brains.

Well we are still reaping the benefits of Dinardo with Kevin Faulk...
