Cam Newton. The thing is he is now getting paid big money based after this one year. May never win another NC but that is just how it works. Got to take the money everytime when it's offered.

This time last year, people would have put Les Miles at the top of that list. What a difference a year makes.

The fact he won one and went undefeated in doing so, pretty much separates him from 99% of his coaching peers in results.

What he does now will be "the rest of the story".

The easy hands-down winner. Danny Ford might get some votes too. Gene Stallings career W-L record ain't exactly sterling either.

Was Chizik overrated? Was he even rated? I don't ever remember anyone talking about him as one of the top coaches in the nation!

So maybe what you mean he is the most under rated coach to ever win a NC ...

And, NOW maybe he is over rated because he won a NC with a superstar. We'll see how the story goes ...

How can he be overrated when everyone says that Gus Malzahn is the real head coach. If anything, he is underrated. I'm pretty sure he had a lot more to do with Auburn winning the BCS NC last year than most people give him credit for.

i think the only things about the Auburn team last year that weren't overrated where Cam and Fairley.

Chizik, I defensive minded coach of a team that was all offense.

Gus- Offensive genius that only requires a superhumen-esque quarterback for his scheme to run well. It isn't liek his offense changed since last year where we held them to seven. He isn't bad, but he isn't amazing either.

Maybe worst coach but I don't think overrated. Who really rates him high anyway?

Did you watch the NC game? The 2nd half of the Bama game? The SEC Championship? By the end of the year that defense was stout.

2008 without Malzahn

Total Offense - 104th in nation / 302.92 YPG

2009 with Malzahn and noodle-armed Chris Todd

Total Offense - 16th in nation / 431.77 YPG

Gus Malzahn has been extraordinarily successul at Tulsa and Auburn without stud QBs.

Actually, it changed a lot. Malzahn is known for completely adapting his offense to his QBs skill set. Also, Chris Todd was banged up and played horribly in the middle of the season when we lost 3 straight SEC games in '09, including the LSU game.
