I agree with you. I like GC as OC. I think he's done very well overall. I think he does get "too cute" which is the term tossed around here. It has much to do with our QB play, but also putting the shaken, young, inexperienced QB in undesirable situations a little too often.
If it's 3rd and 17 with a 0-0 score and the ball inside my 20, you'd have to kidnap my kid to have me throw the ball against the #1 team in the country with above said QB. Run for a few yards and punt. It's not imaginative, but it's acceptable.
I do not want to fire Gary Crowton. (Added for the comprehension-deprived).

i love crowton, but i hate how people talk about "his offense" and have no clue what he really wants
hopefully he stays here for a while so he can get down the spread option and power i and mold them all into his offense and he has a rhythm to call plays from all 3 different styles

One of the things I like about Crowton is that he's not married to any style of offense (spread, west coast, fun-n-gun) but seems to incorporate whatever he thinks will work.
For the record, recall that Lee was a Jimbo recruit who stayed with his commitment to LSU after Jimbo went to FSU.

I know how is Miss St and Auburn hammering each other 3-2. Miss St venturing over to Jawja Tech and losing 38-7 then Auburn goes out and gets thumped by WVU. Brutal I tell ya brutal.
Even Cindarelly Vandy leaving the brutal SEC and getting a beatdown from Duke.
You know I can't figure how Ole Miss lost to Wake before beating UF because it was early. They had not had time to be beaten down by that brutal SEC schedule ya know the one with the great defenses that just beat up on each other week to week. It must have been an anomalie.
I don't know how SEC teams stand up under it by the time they play outsiders I guess they are just too tired out to make a fight of it.

3rd and 3 late in the 4Q with a ton of rushing yardage and Crowton calls in a pass play from a clearly struggling QB. That was a game changer. So was the end zone pass for a pick in OT.
Way too cute when it counted. This was not a well-coached offensive game.

Crowton calls plays like he is auditioning. The dual back fields of Charlie Scott and whoever is a dead lock cinch, LSU has the capability of being the 80's Nebraska (rush, rush, rush, oh look that wide receiver is all alone) but that is not sexy enough for Crowton because he is another poser from the North going down south to try and get a head coaching job. He is not bleeding purple and gold he does not worry about today getting this win, he is concerned about looking cute and calling absurd plays that imitate past success instead of focusing on what we do here. Yes I will say it CROWTON IS A CARPETBAGGER, for you little weenies look up carpetbagger if you even remmember we had a civil war. And I will say this about Les Miles(Carpetbagger), This is another opportunistic vagabond/Moron who when everyone wakes up and smells the coffee will realize, that he road the coattails of Nick Saban(carpetbagger) to exercise the talent buildup to the expected title per some incredibly opportunistic results West Va. losing to Pitt (???)Les Miles is a Moron. A nice Moron but a moron. He is being used by Crowton, was used by Pelini and will be used by anyone else looking to move on to a head coaching job they don't deserve.
Thats enough. Sorry if reality is not pleasant.

With Crowton, you are either gonna have the best offense ever, or a finnesse peice of crap. I know we ran on Bama pretty good, but we stil threw it a little too much. I get the impression that Crowton likes the West Coast, throw-it-a -lot type of offense, while Miles likes the Big Ten run, run, run, type of offense.
The only reason that Crowton might have called for a pass play 34 times was to use the pass to open up the run, in which case it should be short throws to a TE and a bunch of WR screens.
and where have you been an offensive coordinator?

Didn't Crowton get run out of Oregon? I know the fans were very pleased when he left.
His chemistry with the coaches and players didn't mesh well. His offense here was also becoming very predictable. I wasn't "pleased" but I also though we could get someone better which IMO, we did in Chip Kelly. I guess I wouldn't say better, just better for us. We needed a spread option guru and a national recruiter. Kelly is both. Kelly and Mullen are the best OCs in the country when it comes to the spread option and Kelly is also the only reason we are getting some big time national visitors like Craig Loston and Bryce Brown.
Like I said above, I love Dixon but when it comes to the playbook, he had a tough time. Crowton's system was way too complicated for him. Kelly came in, simplifized the offense and centered it around Dixon and he flourished his senior year, would've been a lock for the heisman if he stayed healthy and Oregon would've gone to the National Championship game to play Ohio State.

Play calling was fine????? you must of not been at the game. With 2 minutes left in the game 3rd down and 3 yards to go; you call a pass play!!!??? NO WAY WITH THE RUNNING BACKS THAT WE HAVE WE SHOULD HAVE RUN UP THE MIDDLE OUR OFFENSE LINE WAS BLOCKING GREAT. WHATEVER

That was a bad decision on Lee's part. The endzone pass was not Lee's only option on that play. Crowton's Offense faced one of the top defenses in the country and still put up more yards than anyone has all year against them. How could anyone ever question GARY CROWTON??? if you do, you're just ignorant. I dont think theres another Offensive coordinator in the country that can say they've never been held under 21 points. Crowton can.....his playcalling is gauranteed 21 at least every game!!

And so it begins. This one should rank right up there with the 2006 losses to Auburn and UF with the oc losing it in the clutch.

no, it shouldn't. we scored 6 against auburn with arguably the best QB to ever play for LSU.
we scored 21 against #1 Bama with a RS Freshman who threw 4 picks

The guy did get fired from his Alma Mater...
I hope he learns that you can't run Qb's in this league like in the WAC or Pac-10.
Tebow did it a lot last year and paid for it by getting pounded on 25 times a game and Florida flaked out at the end. This year he hasn't run near as much and they're playing much better.
