When I paused it on my DVR, it definitely missed him by about 4 inches last night. It was the same when I did it in slow motion. This is also using a 50 inch HDTV, not some 20 inch POS. When I looked at it again on my DVR today, it looks like it missed him by even more. Shut up, you are stupid and don't know what you are talking about.

What gets lost in all of this is why the hell is Coleman pitching behind a guy in the first place? Hah.

Dude, the size of your TV has nothing to do with whether it hit the guy or not.

Really. I watched in HD, slow motion, on a screen that belongs in a movie theater, and I thought it hit him.

CLARIFICATION: The pitch changed drastically (not a curve ball) before it it the catchers mitt. It hit the batters jersey which according to rule is part of the batter.

Go watch it again then. The view from behind is when you can really tell it hits him. If look closely you can see the ball change directions slightly right before it hits gibbs' glove causing him to miss it.

Yep, same here. I was yelling at my friends 60yr old Pennsylvanian roommate for saying it wasnt even close.

Yeh, didn't that happen to an LSU player during supers and Rice flipped out because they said it hit his sleeve and not him? Douchebags...

My view, Gibbs knew where the ball was going even though the batter was blocking his sight. The dude has amazing vision. The ball changed spin after hitting the batter, which is why Gibbs didn't catch it.
Buuut...we won in cardiac cat fashion anyway

I'm gonna go with it didn't hit him and it doesn't really matter, the play is long over and we are half way to a CWS title

Also, the camera angle is not directly behind the batter so that doesn't help but he definitely did not hit him.

Well, I can agree that there isn't much point in debating one play in a game we ultimatly won.

This thread is so interesting to me b/c some people are saying it clearly did and some people are saying it clearly did not with some guy saying it missed him by 4-5".

Not sure how it could be both

you're lying if you claim it wasnt close. it was the closest call i maybe have ever seen. I still have no clue if it hit him or not. I'd lean towards not.

4 or 5 millimeters is more like it(if it did miss him). 4 or 5 inches is incorrect.

Who is to say we tie in the ninth if anything is changed during earlier innings?
