game day parking for Ole Miss question

I am finally coming down to my first game in Tiger Stadium in 25 years, and taking my 23 yr old son to his first. We are coming down for the Ole Miss game.
I am staying at Courtyard off Siegen near the Top Golf. Since it has been so long, I am unfamiliar with the parking situation now. Is there free parking, and if so where? If so, what time should I venture down there. I would like to take him to the Chimes for lunch on Saturday, then I do have a friend that has a tailgate spot near the stadium, and we will do some walking around and see all the sites.
Other question is what route I should take from the hotel to get there. I am not too worried about the trip back to the hotel; we can just hang out after the game.
Appreciate y'all and Geaux Tigers!

Primary free parking is in lots on River Road and considering where your are staying, park in the lots on the Brightside side of Gourrier so contraflow will send you in the right direction. But that's a hike.
You may want to consider sucking up paying to park at Southgate

Chimes was an hour and a half wait last weekend around 11:00 AM. Expect it for ole miss to be even crazier.

The best free parking available for these destinations is at the Parker Ag Colesseum on South Stadium. The catch here is that you will have to get there early like before noon to get a spot there. That is an easy access to The Chimes and back across the main campus to TS. After the game it is contraflow out to Stanford and probably no more than a 30 min exit to hotel.

Are you referring to Southgate Apts? If so, do you know how much parking is and can you pre purchase.

do you think if i planned to get there between 11-12, even for this game, I could be ok?

Chimes on Friday, that would be awesome, but as of now, we are driving down from Chicago area on Friday, so not sure what time we will get in on Friday. I have been looking at flights to NO for a couple of months and they are just too damn much. It is a 13 hr drive.
other option is to fly to Houston then drive 4 hrs from IAH.

my unofficial visitor's guide to LSU tailgating
EVERYTHING in grey is free game as long as you get there.
If you can, park behind the LSU Law Center. It'll be your closest spot to Chimes. I usually park in the WCA lots and have a quick exit from the stadium (taking Aster to Highland, Highland to side streets that lead to I-10 E.)
Given that it's Ole Miss, the Chimes will be packed by visitors and/or LSU fans. I wouldn't try to find parking inside campus past 11am if we're still at 1 loss and Ole Miss is still undefeated.

Free parking behind the Law School and at University High but get there well ahead, even more so considering this will be a big game. IMO I would be parked at the Law School by 8 to be safe, more leeway for U-High but don’t push it. Mosey over to Louie’s for breakfast. In case you haven’t heard, the Union is no longer open on game days.

Yes.
Don't know. It's either 20 or 50 but I can't say if you can call ahead.

You can park in the parking lot where Kirby Smith used to be (near the band practice facility) for free. It's also a 2 min walk to Chimes from there, as well as a pretty easy exit after the game. As long as you get there early enough you should have zero issues parking there.

Ag Center fills up with tailgates that don't stay for the game.
Parking available before 10 and then an hour and a half before the game when tailgates leave to go home to watch the game.

Just a heads up, LSU is guaranteed to start no earlier than 5pm. I'm thinking at get 7pm just based on both remaining schedules where we would be going up against Ohio State @ Oregon, and Penn State @ USC, one going to FOX in the evening and the other to the 2:30pm CT CBS slot. Even if both are in California I cannot imagine the CBS time going to anyone else in the Big Ten.
That being said, get there before 11am if possible. I-10 can be painful anytime before 12pm and it doesn't take much to cause traffic between the merge and the LSU exit.

Thanks for all of the tips. I think I am going to shoot for ag center no later than 11, likely 10:30, then walk to the chimes. I won't mind waiting if it is a late game as that will still leave plenty of time to walk around and hit my friends tailgate spot by the stadium. See Mike, see the band come down the hill, get in to see pre game.

1) Could y'all leave on Thursday evening and overnight in southern Illinois or Missouri Take I-57 from Chicago to Sikeston, MO which gets you south without going through St. Louis.?
2) Did you look at the train from Chicago to Hammond or NOLA on Thursday evening? Take a ride on the City of New Orleans.
My work takes me to Champaign and I normally drive from Jackson MS. On the way back I normally stop in West Memphis.

Unfortunately not as my son's work schedule does not allow for it. I ended up booking an early flight to Houston on Friday to then we will drive to BR, then a later Flight back on Sunday which will allow us to stop by my parents in Kingwood for a few minutes Sunday afternoon before we fly back. It is a lot but worth it for him to finally get to see a game there. And my first time back since I sold my season tickets way back when I moved up north.

Possible,
That is my plan anyway. A regular ho hum game I would say certainly. But being a top 10 game will bring a hefty crowd.
