I watched them play a few games this season. I know their front four (on defense) is pretty talented but how about the rest of the defense. Should our receivers vs their db's be a mismatch? (not taking into account qb play)

eta: how about LB play while we are at it

We need to get into the same mindset as Gardner Webb.

i don't think thier Db's are going to be a problem... Lafell, Byrd, and Tolliver are going to get open.... It is whether or not our Qb's can make the throw

Our DB's are all new starters this year as Jahi Word-Danielt (the only senior) went down in game #10 vs. UNC.

Rover Morgan Burnett is one of the nations best...led the nation in INT's with 7. As a team, we were 9th in the nation with 18 INT's.

We start a true freshman (Rashaad Reid) and true sophomore (Mario Butler) at cornerback. The free safety, Dominique Reese, is a sophomore.

We will also play a lot of nicket where Burnett moves underneath and true freshman Cooper Taylor comes in at FS.

The weakness is at LB where we are also extremely young. Not only are we young, we lost two LB starters at the end of the year (AT Barnes and Shane Bowen) to injuries...and another starter (Sedric Griffin) will play at 80% tomorrow with a sprained knee.

Crossing routes and underneath passes give us a lot of trouble.

The DL represents the only seniors we have that start. We have 3 senior starters...and they are all DL...and all three will be in the NFL draft.

Overall...our scoring defense is 22nd in the country. Rushing defense is 20th...passing defense is 45th.

If you're saying you've watched them a few times this year, you would know better than 99% of the tards regarding how well their LBs and DBs are.

just my opinion but micheal johnson from tech is the best de in the country... remember the ole miss game.... tech has a very similar defensive front that can get after the passer

a QB scrambling could give you some real problems too (like any team, but especially ones with inexperienced LBs)

We have some really tall receivers with NFL caliber speed, I expect your CBs are going to have some problems keeping them in check.

Key is the safeties. I am sure we wil be in our cover two and walk the strong safety up for an 8-man front. We just have to make the tackles. Easier said than done for this team.

That is the key. No doubt our O can put up some points, but our D has to tackle, not just try and lay a big hit and hope he falls down.

uga played them most of the game in a 4-3 style and walked the safety up to have a 4-4 look and it was effective until late in the game when the safeties failed to wrapp up.... i think if our d line can push the oline into the qb's lap and disrupt that timing we should be in good shape to make plays

I seemed to recall that we rushed for over 200 yards in the 3rd quarter. I believe we took the lead with 7+ minutes to go in the 3rd q. I wouldn't call that late in the game.

As I have mentioned several times my favorite play in that game was a formation with two a backs to the wide side of the field and one receiver. The other receiver (Thomas) was on the short side by himself. We ran the option to the short side and the safety came charging up as Thomas ran a slant route with the corner covering. Thomas blocked the safety and 60 yards later, untouched, Jones was caught from behind trying to set up a block by Cox on the other safety. That set up the field goal to end our 26 point 3rd quarter.

Their pass defense is shite, weak DB's and LB's as the Yellow Jacket said.

Pass will be open all day long, can JJ make the throws? CAn our O-line hold off thier front four? Can our D-line stop the option? Those are the keys to the game.

our DB's are anything but weak...particularly Morgan Burnett who led the nation in INT's and will be a top NFL draft pick in two years.

The LB's are the weak point primarily because of injuries and youth.

U(sic)GA were in a 4-2-5 with 3 safeties mostly. 1 safety would be deep with 2 flanking either side of the 2 LBs, giving the appearance of a 4-4.
