Since this topic comes up a number of times a year and nothing seems to be in the books what's everyone's opinion on removing the bleachers down the lines in LF and RF (lower sections only) and replacing with chairback seats? Sections 101-105 and 119-123 to make premium seating.

It's a major project with a one time cost for fan approval that could be demoed, re poured, and installed with seats during late summer/early fall without affecting game play. The way they design it could either support or connect to the upper bleachers which cover the concessions on both sides for future expansion.

Replacing the bleachers with chair backs seems like an easy upgrade at least for right now. There needs to be a lot of reno done on top of that, though. I agree about wanting to provide a way to walk from one end of the grand stand to the other and the outfield area needs to be more informal/fan friendly like we’ve seen other schools do, but it should be unique to LSU, whatever that entails. Don’t just do a berm with grass, make it badass. I’d love to hear rant berm alternatives.

Tear it down and start over.

They fricked this whole thing up trying to build a replica.
It's hypocritical to act like you wanted to recreate the magic of the old Box while simultaneously making the new one a corporate butt sniffer like the rest of the facilities.

Why? This is the thinking that has us in this predicament.

Replace them all.

It will be a start Adam. There are so many improvements to Alex Box that need to be done.

But if they will have to demo, etc. that area anyway, it would make more sense to go ahead and improve the entire left and right field lines. All chair backs with a extension of the covered concourse down the lines with the ability to add suites later.

TBH I want a complete renovation. Move the bullpens, create a beer garden area in the outfield, and some other creative changes.

My gut feeling is that right now major Alex Box upgrades are the last on the priority list unfortunately with architects working on PMAC plans.

The good thing is with this demo is taking down metal bleachers which is extremely cheap and quick.

Basketball is in the gutter for at least 5 years. That should switch priorities.

That would be a major demo and renovation which would include demoing everything existing, pouring new foundations, new steel, new concourse.

It's the best path but one I feel the Athletic department is not wanting to foot the bill anytime soon.

My mind is still blown to this day they went back with those metal bleachers on the rebuild.

What a shitty unimaginative effort the new AB was

The bleachers don’t bother me. I think they should invest in structures out in RF and LF. Move bullpens.
