Creese hit the furthest one that i ever saw, I think he was a sophomore..never missed a game from 97-2001, it went over the center field flag pole (right over us) and was still going up..some kid from married housing was running around with it..I think it went over the first set of houses and into that little "playground" in between the first 2 sets..amazing..

i too think it was berkman in '95 for rice. i was at the game and sitting a few rows in front of jose cruz, sr down the left field line by the Rice pen.
what made it so unbelievable was it seemed like it was still rising as it cleared the light tower in left.
that defeat Beatle Bailey's last game as an LSU coach too if i remember right.

It was definitely Cresse. It was a Friday night game against Miss. St. He hit just to the left of center field and into that playground area that the previous poster was referring to.

Todd Walker on Sunday in the Florida Series (against Wilkerson) in 1994. Landed on Nicholson Drive.

I'm glad you remember it too, I was starting to think maybe I dreamed it. I was sitting in the cheap seats and the ball came towards us, we all stood up and then looked up..it was amazing and i have been to many Astros games as well and seen some moon shots..that was the furthest and hardest hit ball i have ever seen..

Who was the guy from UF who hit the shot that bounced off the Athletic Admin building??

Using Google Earth, a rough measurement from old home plate to the corner of the Athletic Admin. Building is approx. 620’ and 550’ to the apartments.
Interesting article on longest pro hits: LINK
Another source says: “The longest verifiable home run distance is about 575 feet (175 m), by Babe Ruth, to straightaway center field at Tiger Stadium (then called Navin Field and prior to the double-deck), which landed nearly across the intersection of Trumbull and Cherry.”
That said, I did see one hit and then bounce into the apartment wall.

It's amazing and entertaining to read how many false statements are made so confidently in this thread.

I saw Joey Belle hit one that was still going up as it cleared the lights in left center field. It was a shot!!

Ahhhhhh the annual "who hit the furthest homerun" thread. It must be baseball season !The usual suspects.
Mouton
Wilkerson
Belle
Larson
Furniss
I DO wonder if they put a tape measure on Dean's bomb against Tulane in 09 at the new box? Listening to Hawthorne and Hannagrif, they said it went over the light standard.

In the old Box I can't imagine any homer that was further than the one Brad Wilkerson hit.
FWIW the longest homer I ever saw was hit by Eddy Furniss against SLU in Hammond.

Jackson State player about 6-6, 250 crushed a frozen rope to dead left field that was about 15 feet off the ground and climbing as it passed me sitting midway down the left field foul line bleachers. It had to have come close to the married students apartments on the fly.
That would have been Earl (I think it was Earl) "The Colonel" Sanders. 1st rounder of the Blue Jays that year and they couldn't decide whether they wanted him to hit or pitch. That frozen rope would have killed someone in the left field bleachers if they were there at the time.
Belle was a beast and hit bombs with those old original "green" eastons. Always wondered what he could do with some of the juiced bats from the 90's.

Harry Berrios hit the apartments, but in left center rather than a dead pull. That bomb was 500 plus.
