you're all wrong. Bret Boone hit one in the 90 regional i believe that has to be the furthest bomb. Anybody that was there will attest to that

I was there and saw that bomb. The rain came down after that game. That was a pretty deep bomb and he hit one the night before against Houston that went over scoreboard. Still, Mouton, against a few teams, jacked 'em as far as possible.

The farthest I've see was by Brad Hawpe.

There is a story around Northwestern State that Zeph Zinsman hit one at their place that is legendary.

Cooley's highest HR total for a season was about 15 at the most...his senior year, he had three teammates who had 20 or more.

one of my best buddies, a former Bama All-American pitcher in the mid-70's says he threw the pitch to Mike Miley that was the longest....well over 500 ft.

I saw it. Miley's hit is still orbiting and knocking space junk out of the sky.

A few I remember from the mid-80s:

Albert Belle in the regional against Tulane hit one over right-center that hit Nicholson Drive on the fly about 30 feet directly behind my car as I drove by (hard to believe but true - I had rolled my window down to hear the crowd noise as I was approaching and Hawthorne called a DEEP drive and I looked in my rear-view mirror and I saw the ball hit and bounce across all of Nicholson into the parking lot.

Dave Magadan (huge left handed hitting Alabama and former NY Mets 1B) pulled a shot just inside the right field line that was still climbing when it left the park - I have no idea how far it went.

Jackson State player about 6-6, 250 crushed a frozen rope to dead left field that was about 15 feet off the ground and climbing as it passed me sitting midway down the left field foul line bleachers. It had to have come close to the married students apartments on the fly.

Both Hawpe and Hendrickson hit ones in the same weekend that went past traffic and into Tiger Stadium parking lot. I don't believe the stories of balls hitting the athletic building though.
