Landon Collins’ mom literally said on signing day that her son made a mistake to sign with Alabama over LSU.

He signed with Alabama even though she said LSU was better for him and that was 13 or so years ago.

Again, Frank is a great recruiter and asset, but he’s not the only coach who is a great recruiter and he’s not the only coach who can recruit NOLA.

This is not an elite list like you think it is.

Fournette and Hill were great at LSU. Guice was great but not until Frank left already.

The others good at best or just mediocre at LSU. Spencer Ware, Alfred Blue, and Darrell Williams all had break outs in the NFL but were nothing super special at LSU.

This actually kind of supports the OP’s point because those 3 guys weren’t that good until they got away from Frank and finally received some real coaching in the NFL.

Not as much as it used to. It doesn’t mean that it isn’t still important.

Exactly. You don't necessarily need someone like Frank as much as you used to. It's why Kiffin isn't bending over backwards to retain him.

As much, no. When all things are “equal” it can matter.

I'm not saying that he wasn't a great recruiter or a great asset. He absolutely was. But if losing Frank means that we get to have Kiffin because he wants his guy, I am fine with that trade all day every day.

I’m not sure what Underwood has to do with Wilson. As for Stewart, he got double what LSU could afford. Ditto Underwood in terms of cost. Things were nowhere near “equal.”

That's to illustrate that both of those guys had deep connections and relationships to Sloan and Frank. Sure, it was a Godfather offer that was made for both of them, but they still were going to get good money here. It wasn't like he was coming here to play for free. And they still took money over the relationships because these are 17-18 year old kids and not adults. All they see is $$$ when we all know that isn't what truly matters.

Again, he is gone, but I think that it’s silly to not pretend that the man isn’t well connected in Nola.

Buddy, I never said that he wasn't connected in NOLA. He is very well connected. But:

1. He isn't the only one with connections in NOLA because we have lost plenty of NOLA recruits with Frank on staff.
2. We recruited other guys out of NOLA before he got here and after (Michael Divinity, Kristian Fulton, Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson, John Emery, Andre' Anthony, etc.)
3. It's not just NOLA that has great players. The entire state is full of talent, and there is plenty of other talent across the country that we can tap into.

Man, the sky isn't falling. Yes, Frank is gone, but that's okay. We have Kiffin now, and if that means we had to let go of Frank, then I am perfectly fine with that regardless of if he goes to Ole Miss or not.

Taking Kiffin from them significantly weakened Ole Miss's program.

You act like your dog has just died with all the "He's gone" talk and we will be fine. He isn't the only one that can recruit NOLA. If he was, we would've gotten every single recruit out of that area, but that's not the case nor will it ever be.

Not everyone from that area pans out and becomes great either. There are other areas of the state and country that produce great players.

To get your panties all in a wad over this is crazy.
