if texas loses two or 3 more games then we may as well keep coach O if he goes 6-2. herman will be off the table.

can't think of any other candidates who would be better than bebe if he puts a good run together.

We'd be looking at 3 straight seasons with less than 10 wins.

Guys like Brohm, Fritz, Fedora, Mullen, Rich Rod, etc. All better choices.

Now if O is the CEO type and moves us to a modern offense.. I have zero problems with him. Don't need a head coach to call the plays but it sure does help.

I hope he's the guy , how could not want to run through a brick wall for a guy like that. He's one of us , and absolutely loves lsu. He's got the horses to do it , I think he's fixing to let em loose. I hope he can pull it off, and they make a movie about the crazy coonass that took over college football!!!!!!,

Personally, I am cheering for him, but we have a lot of enormous games left to be played before crowning him. He has an enormous audition ahead of him: UF in Gainesville, A&M at College Station, Arkansas at Fayetteville, along with Bama and Ole Miss.

Well this is just flat wrong. O doesn't have the luxury of implementing his own system. He took someone else's flawed system over and put a few of his own ideas into it. O will keep Aranda and either keep Ensminger or hire a top notch OC, and would have LSU competing for the playoffs next year.

People are putting a lot of "Hope" in Coach O. Are we ready to hire our next coach on Hope? If hiring Orgeron did not work out it could turn us into Tennessee or Alabama pre-Saban for 10 years.

This decision will be one of the most internal political decisions in the history of our program.

Fedora isn't close to elite. he has gaping holes considering some of his games with UNC.

outside of Herman, Jimbo and Petrino there isn't a candidate without some giant question marks.

The way I look at it is that anyone not pulling for O to be the coach is saying they don't want us to run the table. If we do run the table, I think there is no way you don't hire him.

He was a complete disaster at Ole Miss, but that is their fault for trying to make a d line coach into a SEC head coach. Only time will tell what he has learned.

But this year isn't the issue. O is running Les' system right now, and that system will carry out the rest of the season.

The question is, what happens 2, 3, 5 years from now? Aranda will be gone, probably at a Power 5 school as HC himself by then. Who does O bring in- and no, it better not be another former retired LSU coach.
Alleva runs the Athletic Department, but the football coach runs the football program.

O is not running les Miles system. have you been asleep the last week?

coach O is changing things up. Its not miles system, maybe players miles collected but ED O was part of collecting them and no one can dispute that the man can recruit.

how is rich rod a better choice than O?

Rich Rod was handed the keys to a big time program and he managed to run michigan into the ground. His defense isn't going to fly in the sec. Rich Rod is a fringe program guy.

everyone on tier 2 including coach O has massive question marks. Coach O has an 8-9 game audition and so far he has made excellent choices in the change he has made. Im not saying hand Coach O the job based off one game, but just that he is probably a better choice than some shot in the dark.

no, hiring a bad coach at LSU doesn't turn us into UT for the next 10 years. Its hiring bad coach after bad coach that does that.

If Herman, Jimbo, Petrino say no thank you to our offers then you move to the tier 2 guys and coach O has the leg up on all of them.

Ole miss is clearly a mark against him, but his time since then proves the man can change. I also think Coach O is much better off at a big boy program like USC or LSU vs the fringe teams.

Rich Rod proved he can't handle the big teams and is better off at second rate programs like zona and WV where pressure isn't high.

I'm not crazy about it, but I could live with this sequence.

What I can't accept is just shutting down the search because O has rallied the troops. He is tailor-made for an interim guy, but his ability to manage an entire program year over year is suspect.

Everyone seems to forget that Joe Alleva is the guy making this pick.

Get ready for a really bad coaching hire.

I agree, I don't think we just shut it down unless he goes to the sec title game. Then you really have no choice but to shut it down and hand it to him. However if the biggest fish say no, which is highly likely considering what could be on the market along with us and its rare to see major coaches job to other elite schools. Then you get into that second tier, which is littered with great coaches but they all have some kind of question mark about how would they do at LSU.

I like the process i have seen from Ed O so far. He has a clear vision and game plan and he is giving the reasons for it. Every change he has made he has a sound reason behind why it was done.

It could go south but i think we run that risk with any of the tier 2 guys they are going to be hit or miss. Success in other lower conferences doesn't always translate to success in the power 5.

IMO if Herman is off the table then you go with Ed on say a 4 year contract at 2 million or so a year. An extremely low buyout the first year, if he wins we up the buyout and its all good.

If the O train doesn't workout we part ways with him and then its bring the brinks truck out again but this time we don't go away from tier 1 until they have put a restraining order on us for stalking them.

Well if we run the table and that guarantees Coach O gets the job, how do you get rid of anyone? Ensminger has to stay as OC, right?

That's where it gets really concerning with that logic.
