Did some work at a peaking plant in Abernathy, Texas. 20 miles north of Lubbock, between Lubbock and Amarillo on I27.
One guy up there told me there was beautiful girl behind every tree, the problem was finding that tree.
I kid you not, a local actually told me that.

Because of a meningitis outbreak in San Antonio I went thru Basic & Tech Training at Amarillo AFB. As I said my first assignment was at Reese AFB. Finally I got an assignment to Nam and was able to get the fu*k out of the Texas Panhandle. While at home on leave prior to leaving for Nam I ran into my recruiter. "Join the Air Force & see the world huh? All I've seen so far is the Texas Panhandle" He laughed and bought me a couple of beers.

I did some work south of Lubbock in Seminole. A guy told me you could watch your dog run away for 2 weeks
